It is just that you are so "whatever" about HFM, which is a *highly* contagious disease. Regardless of the current strain, or potential (rare?) long term implications, it is painful for most people to contract, and they're really uncomfortable for the duration of the illness.

I would have hoped, as a daycare provider, that you'd take it more seriously, but your OP indicates you don't really see it as a big deal. Which is why I seriously doubt your going to spend hours disinfecting every crevice of all your toys, or that you've closed the daycare.

Okay, as I stated before... I didn't know I was exposed till this morning, early, when the mom called me. That would be AFTER the thing with my husband.
The pregnancy... not that it is honestly anyone's business, but we wanted our kids close together. We were not trying, let me make that clear. I had been breast feeding but quit suddenly and never got my period back. That's how it happened.
I am young... 19. Been married almost 2 years and know I will get flamed for it, been there, done that.
I thought it was kinda funny, though some other people with a bit of a twisted outlook on life would think it was a little funny.
Everyone is safe and sound, the boy who had it is about done with it.
Next time, I will think a little more before joking about a painful infection, regardless how minute it may seem... thanks.

The coxsackie virus is thought to be one of the ones that goes haywire and causes autoimmune disorders. They go back and forth on the connection, but the timing of when I had it/when I got type 1 matches the evidence supporting the connection so they're pretty sure that's where it started for me. It's a pretty rare complication, but it does happen. I wouldn't worry about it. It makes me pissy, though, when people are blase about it and, y'know, not bothering to try to prevent spreading it.
