He and I had a meeting with our boss/the owner today about business development. He said he hasn't had time to do much this week, and boss said "You have to make time for this."
Coworker said "Well, I have been here until 8:00 the last two nights, putting in 12 hour days. This 3 week stretch is my busiest all year, most likely. There's not much more I can do."
So apparently it's not just me feeling like expectations are a little out of whack.
The attrition rate, I'm not sure about. The coworker who has pushed back has been here for something like 7 years - but he's left a couple of times and come back within a couple of weeks both times... not sure what that's about.
Everyone else has been here about a year- year and a half.
And yes, I've been here 8-8 the last two nights. And I really should have called in sick at least one of those days, because I have felt awful. I am on the upswing today!
Good grief. Have you had any luck sending your resume out? I remember your situation because I was once in one similiar. Once I jumped ship... life got so much better.
No bites to my resumes yet. I think I need to widen my search a bit, but I want to be careful not to just jump into something equally awful, since I don't want to have two short work stints on my resume.
I do have friends in lots of big companies around here, who have offered to put in referrals for me if I find something I like. So I am working diligently!

Good for you. I hope you can get out of there soon. My last job was a nightmare, and I didn't even realize just how affected my life was until I was gone.
