Anyone recommend an AI for a girls' trip. Just looking for good food, drinks and to veg on the beach. Looking for medium budget to accommodate everyone.
We stayed at the Valentin Imperial Maya in the Riveria Maya in June. It was a moderately priced resort that had a really good mixture of couples and groups of friends. We went with a couple of friends which is why we picked it (didn't want just a place that seems to cater to couples/honeymooners). Everyone was super friendly and we talked with a bunch of people at the pool everyday.
Please see my Secrets Maroma post below. There are a lot of couples there but I think it would be a nice place for a girls getaway also. I have also been to El Dorado Royale 5 years ago and loved it. I remember the food being really good but keep in mind that my food tastes have probably become more refined in the past 5 years...lol.
SMB could be good, but it does lack major night life. We didn't mind because we just wanted to relax, but if you want that for your trip, I would probably go elsewhere
I've been to several AIs in that area and would also recommend Valentin Imperial Maya for a girls trip. It's not as pricey as Excellence or SMB but it still adults only and really nice. They food was decent too! It seemed like there were a lot of groups there and not just all couples.

I went for my friend's 40th last January and we stayed at the ME Cancun. We LOVED it! I think there were 6 of us that went and no one had a bad word to say about it. The crowd was young, trendy and the food and hotel were excellent.
My mom and sister and I stayed at Beach Palace for my 30th birthday trip in November 2010. It was very nice but a little quiet. We also went to Cancun Palace and ate dinner one night because it is all part of the same group and it was very lively and fun!
