I feel like a law was passed that requires all movies to be released in 3D that I missed.
I have yet to experience the 3D thing and I kinda don't get it. Maybe if I see one it will all make sense. My understanding though is that you don't HAVE to see it in 3D, right? It will still be viewable in regular 2D?
Usually it's available in 2D as well. In 99% of movies there's no benefit to 3D. It's often like two scenes and nothing the rest of the show.

I am most certainly going to watch this. I'm also going to demand a book club discuss this in January. It would be awesome to see the movie, re-read the book and then discuss, discuss, discuss!
i hatehatehatehatehate that version of R&J. it's like MTV decided to get into the theatre business.
It is a little bit, but that's part of why I love it. Shakespeare used to throw in things in his plays that weren't date appropriate, so like a play that theoretically was taking place in the 14th century would have a reference to a thing or a person from the 16th century. So I thought it was kind of in keeping with Shakespeare generally. And then I thought that there was just a TON of really clever ways to work with the dialogue. And, even accepting my bias, I thought DiCaprio was absolutely insanely good in that role. Claire Danes sounded like she didn't know what she was saying and was just reciting lines, but DiCaprio was brilliant.
IMO.
i love the play. it's actually my 3rd favorite play of his. i just happen to hate this movie version. i think it was poorly cast and was done to capture the attention of someone who can't handle watching the same image for more than 3 seconds.
IMO, mercutio is the best part of that movie, period.

Great Gatsby is one of my favorite books of all time. This looks interesting but I'm always disappointed when I see movies that are based on good books.
Leo didn't become sexy to me until The Departed. Which reminds me, I need to download that to my iPad. He was amazing in The Departed.
The Departed was the only thing I found him sexy in. Although, I've seen stills from Django Unchained and he might be looking a little hot to me there. lol
TIP did the Great Gatsby as a book club pick just last month. I hated it and found it soo hard to get into.
However, I think I would love it on the big screen.
Just tell me we're talking R&J/Moulin Rough Lurmann and not that shitty tripe Australia Lurmann. That was horrid.

We were discussing Romeo and Juliet in English class the semester the movie was released.
It made it MUCH more cool, suddenly! And actually made things really easy to understand, IMO. It's most students' first introduction to Shakespeare.
Also, it is wrong that I let pinky watch it? My MIL gave her this stuffed cat she made H when he was little and pinky named it Romeo. After her giving me strange looks for saying "Wherefore art thou, Romeo," every time she shoved that thing in my face, I turned on the movie for her.

Did you see Inception? I thought he was hot in that and that movie still blows my mind.
He was hot in Inception and it's a great movie, but I was more distracted by this:

That movie just didn't hold my attention.
Marion Cotillard did though. She's my number one girl crush. I love her so. Also, is it just me, or is Joseph Gordon-Levitt getting hotter all the time?
I love French actresses, all of them. ALL OF THEM!
I also adore the way they age and don't give a fuck. I love the bitchfights, their ranges, the some times off movie choices, the ego, the talent. It's like a nation of Meryl Streep over there but with accents.
I don't know if I like the Baz Luhrman touch on this movie :N: I was thinking along the lines of how Boardwalk Empire took place during a similar time period and just looked more real and this seems so cartoonish. Which I know is his *thing,* but its disappointing to me. Eh, I don't know. Plus, Tobey Maguire :N:

I am not sure how I feel about this. Granted my poor students have to watch the Robert Redford version of Gatsby so they are eager for the update. The cast just doesn't fit the characters in my minds eye.
