I am SO not ready for it to be next week. Granted, I don't have to do anything, but it always causes major drama in our lives.
DH and my family both live in town. We have told them all that we will trade off every other TG w/his family and mine. This has worked "relatively" well for the past several years.
This year is DH's family's year to "have us", ok fine. Well now my family is throwing a fit because I've got aunts and cousins from out of town coming in and they want to see the baby (DS). And my mom and grandmother want them to see the baby (more likely). My grandma told me this weekend "you better be there" and she wasn't kidding. I told her we'll see because it's DH's family's turn, but now all it does is make me not want to be there even more. I don't like it when people tell me what I can/cant do. It would have been one thing if she said, "hey, we'd love to see you guys, hope you can make it." but nope, it was pretty much a demand.
Honestly, DH's family is so easy going that I'm sure they'd be totally fine not seeing us this year, but the way my family is behaiving makes me not want to go just out of spite. They're acting like bratty little kids and I don't want them to get their way. But, I do want to see my favorite aunt, also. My cousins...meh.
I think somehow we are going to try to make it to both while also trying to fit in DS' naptimes. It's going to be a headache and I really just want to relax. I don't know how this is going to go.
What are your plans? What's on the menu? Will you be shopping Thanksgiving Day?
We are having my brother, SIL, and niece over.
Menu will be turkey with gravy, sourdough artichoke stuffing, pomegranate relish, baked mashed potatoes with cheddar cheese and cream, baconated Brussels sprouts, and some kind of baked squash situation. Dessert will be pumpkin cheesecake with bourbon sour cream topping.
