This is really interesting- you can hover over each state for specifics. I knew the south was behind, but didn't realize they had not even STARTED yet. Also, I didn't realize that my home state (IL) was as far along as it is- though legal marriage sure would be nice.

Oh lord, this is FB post of a *former* HS friend just now- thank god she's being scorched alive:
well I must get this off my chest since everyone else has a right to their opinion and they are posting it all over FB-As a BIBLE reading person-same sex marriage is wrong, as there is a sanctity in it that God made only for a man and woman. I have yet to ready any book that talks about marriage and homosexuals as being "ok" and refering to God as approving such acts.

Wow, it's really sad that my state (AR) is basically leading the south. I thought we would be one of the worst... Of course, the only thing we have is gay adoptions, and that's only because our SC overturned our no-unmarried-adoptions law a couple of years ago.

We have friends who are a gay couple that started looking into adopting, and ultimately decided against it. Their current plan is to do surrogacy so the child will be biologically one of theirs, and the other can then adopt. Their reasoning behind this? They both currently can't adopt a child, and they were too scared to leave it up to faith that it would ever change. That makes me so sad for them.

There are a lot of things I can complain about living in the PacNW, but apparently gay rights aren't one of them. Not that I'm surprised. I celebrated WA granting gay marriage and I hope OR isn't far behind.
Now, if we could only do something about the rain...
