so I bought the UD pencil that you guys said was good for tightlining. WTF am I doing wrong?? I ended up with it ALL over the place. The pencil seems to soft. Or I'm a complete moron (most likely).
Are you talking about the UD 24/7? I have a travel kit of those pencils and can only use them to make an inadvertently smoky eye because they're so soft that I get them all over everything. And they don't last on me.
I do much better with Clinique Quickliner. I think that's a good eyeliner for people who can't draw straight lines.

I had that post about tightlining a few weeks ago, and it was a toss up between the UD pencil, which seemed easier to use, vs Mac Blacktrack with a brush. Went with Mac and it seems to be working really well so far; I'm using a bent liner brush to apply it.

Try a bent liner brush! This is the first one I've ever owned and I can't believe how much easier it makes it. I got the Sonia Kashuk (sp?) one at Target for like $6.
What is tight lining? Getting really close to your lashes? If that is the case, are you lining with your eye closed or open? I can only do it with the eye closed...then I smudge the hell out of it (moving in a down and side motion)
It's like getting the waterline on your upper lashes/using a brush to get liner into your lashes from below instead of above.
perversion. it took me so freaking long to get it off last night and again this morning. it was almost like mascara on my lashes :/ damn it!! I thought I was being all smart checking that tread before I purchased it, but evidently I should have check with y'all first.
Oh man! Perversion would not be good for tightlining. That's definitely not your technique to blame. It's too soft/melty & has to be applied verrry gently bc it's so pigmented.

Kore, what do you use with your brush for tightlining?
I typically use a black eyeshadow with a wet brush. I could not imagine using a pencil but I also wear contacts and always have them in before I do my makeup.
The only product I've used is the LM tightline cake. I love the way it looks, but it makes my eyes water soo much. I end up with a runny nose all day. So I gave up on tightlining :-p
No way. I bought that and it was so dry and crumbly. It's going back to sephora.
I'm using the LM Tightline with the flat eyeliner brush right now and now that I got the hang of it, I like it quite a bit but I'm waiting for my smashbox gel liner and seeing if I like that better.
So, I tightlined with UD Zero this morning. Total lightbulb moment! It's so much easier with a pencil. Very happy with the results Thanks for reminding me about tightlining!

No one ever listens.

Lol.
haha. Remember how I told you to use flashy fonts & shit if you have a great idea & you don't think I respond with appropriate enthusiasm? This is one of those things!
Crazy! The one I have is practically liquidy, it's so wet & pigmented.
Mine is very smooth too. I wonder if you got a bad one?
I don't know, maybe. But after I bought it I saw some reviews that said the same thing. I'll see what sephora has to offer. I just got the smashbox waterproof one in and I like it so far.
