Do you like it? How often do you go to get it maintained/cut? How much do you spend annually/each visit? Can you PIP a good short hairstyle that works for you?
I'm thinking about cutting my hair. But I've had long hair style for as long as I can remember. It's been years since I've cut my hair/go to the hair salon. This will be a non-MM necessity, and I'll need to put it in my budget. I'm a cheap ass, so this is a big deal to me.
I have a round face so that does not help with my confidence, either.
I get my hair cut and highlighted every 6 weeks. To save $$, I go to the Aveda Institute and get it done by students. Yes, it takes time, but I get a cut and highlights for $50 before tip. You can't beat that.

I have kept my hair short for 10 years and love it. It is smushed down in the front and the rest is spiky. Typically I keep the spikes between 1.5in - 2ins. Need to get it cut about every month in order to keep it styled but I usually put it off until it falls over so about every other month. I get it done at the local bo-rics so it is about $15.
I have a tendency to cut mine short in the winter and let it grow out in the summer. I don't have any good short pics on this computer. (It's longer now.) The biggest impediment to keeping it short is the PITA and expense of getting it cut regularly. I can really only get away with 5 or so weeks between cuts when it's short. Le sigh.

the graduated bob is a great short style to go from long to short with. It's the cut I went to when i chopped off my life-long lonnnng blonde hair. I have loved it so much - over the past 10 years I have done different lengths - much shorter, longer, etc- but i always tend to go back to a version of the graduated bob. Very flattering for almost anyone. www.tumblr.com/tagged/graduated%20bob?before=1345088799
I love my hair short. It's curly and thick and was a nightmare to deal with long. 99% of the time it was up in a bun or ponytail. I have to cut it more often (probably every 10 weeks would be best but I push it to more like 15-16 weeks). It's so easy in the mornings... I only wash it once or twice a week and on off days I wet it a little, put in some gel and go.

sorry- didn't answer the other questions.... i go to a few places for cuts- they vary from $25-$65... it's all about when i have time to go (if i'm working or not, fitting it into lunch time, etc)
i get it cut about ever 3 months - so it isn't too bad to keep up b/c it grows out in a nice way so i don't HAVE to get it cut all the time.
right now i have bangs- but i'm thinking i'm going to grow them out again... i get bored and like to change things up, though, as i said, i always tend to go back to this style.

This is my concern with short hair too. The commitment to the style is costly :-(

I have really short hair - kind of a long pixie cut. I get it cut about every 6-8 weeks, but I have a deal with my stylist - I give her a massage, she cuts my hair (at my house).
Before we started trading, I went to the salon she worked at (Regis, so, low-medium cost). A regular women's cut is usually $45 I think, but she charged me for a men's cut since my hair is fine and so short it only took her 15 minutes to cut, so that was $32/visit + tip.
I love this hair cut because I literally brush/comb my hair out and let it air dry, no products, no styling. It works well with my hair care skills and lifestyle, haha. Here's a pic from this spring (this is towards the end of the 6-8 week time frame, so it's kind of grown out).

The pic in my sig (not a great shot of my hair, obviously) is closer to the beginning of my haircut period - I usually have about 2 inches taken off each time I get it cut.
I have a round, fat face and short hair. I get a trim about every 6-8 weeks and spend around $40. I've found that with short hair you can't get cheap cuts.
A cross between #1 (Womet"s post) and #4. More pixie like bangs than #1, but not as long bangs as in #4. Love it - easy to wash & wear. Have it cut once a month for $35 each time. Don't miss my old long hair one bit.

I have a round face too. I wear my hair in a short angled bob. Yes, the maintenance sucks; I have to style it daily (can't put it in a ponytail or throw a ball cap over it) and it's $45 every 6 wks - 3 mos depending on how good my last cut was. In spite of all this, I absolutely LOVE having a modern, current hairstyle. Finally cutting my (very long) hair short a few years ago was nothing short of cathartic. I will never let my hair "go" like that again.
