Embarrassing newbie eyeliner question

I bought UD 24/7 eyeliner a couple months ago but just started using it regularly. I *think* I am getting better at applying it. My question is, is that nub of eyeliner sticking out all there is? It's getting dull, but I don't see that there's any more eyeliner to sharpen like a pencil. Am I making sense? I am very puzzled by this.

It's a pencil, so you can sharpen it. Do you have a sharpener?

I do have a sharpener. But the handle part of the eyeliner is plastic. Is there more eyeliner inside of the plastic? Do I sharpen down the outside? Maybe I need to use a different sharpener? It's just a pencil sharpener looking thing from the Clinique counter.

I am so hopeless.

I just sharpened my pencil, and now I feel stupid. I was seriously thinking that the part of the pencil sticking out on the point was all there was.
