Next fall we are going to Europe for 2 weeks. Where we go is pretty flexible at the moment. The only definite is we are hitting London the weekend of September 29th. I want to visit Scotland as that is one place I've haven't been yet. Other than that we are debating where to go. I am thinking of 3 days or so per city. I have visited quite a few western European cities and would like to add some new cities to my list of places.
Places I've been include Amsterdam, Paris, Copenhagen, Dublin, Belfast, Madrid & Barcelona. Paris & Dublin are being consdiered for this trip.
Ah I should have mentioned that I previously lived in England and have toured a great deal of the country. I never managed to make it to Scotland while I was there which is why it is top on the list for next years trip.

Vienna, Prague, Budapest (I have been to none of these, but they are places I'd love to go.)
Rome. I adore Rome and would spend at least 3-4 days there. Maybe add on some of Tuscany. I'm in the minority that didn't really like Florence, so I'd skip it and spend time in one of the smaller towns in Chianti. By the end of September, the crowds should be much smaller and the weather will still be nice.

Oh, also Belgium (specifically Brussels and Brugge). We were just there this summer and really enjoyed it. There's not a whole lot to do other than eat and drink, but that entertained us for a few days. If you're beer drinkers, it's a great place to hit for 3-4 days. Any longer and your liver may revolt. :-)

I was just in Dresden and Erfurt, Germany last week. Both cities are amazing--Dresden is just stunning and Erfurt is a charming little Medieval town. I couldve easily spent a week in Dresden and 3 days in Erfurt.
Dresden
Erfurt (view from the Dom--the Weinachtsmarkt was being set up while I was there)
