I know, I know, I keep asking about Venice at different times of year. This has been the one place DH is really interested in going to, so I've had to deal with his hectic work schedule and his request that we try to go alone (without DD).
Anyway, since I am still trying to coordinate it and it looks like the rest of this year is a no-go for babysitting reasons, the next realistic time we could go to Venice would be March. Anyone been that time of year?
I have been to Venice in March. It was relatively uncrowded. As long as you dress warm enough, I don't see why it would be a problem. It wasn't cold, cold, but I needed a coat.
I went in March years ago and it happend to also be Carnevale. It was an amazing experience. Looks like Carnevale is in February this year so it will probably be relatively quiet. Weather wise it was gorgeous.
We went in Feb at the tail end of Carnivale back in 2004. It was chilly, a bit wet with some rain/wet flurries. We didn't have to wear heavy coats. I think I had a waterproof shell and wore layers underneath, but we did wear hats, gloves. We didn't care though, we were in Venice and not Wisconsin!
We went at the end of March/beginning of April two years ago. It was perfect, weather was great, not too hot/not too cold. Relatively uncrowded. We had a great time.
