Obviously if you have a mailbox at your door, the answer is likely every day.
But if you have a mailbox somewhere you have to walk (ours are all at the entrance to our street), how often do you check your mail? We check ours daily. I have a number of friends who check their mailboxes closer to monthly! I can't imagine going more than a week.
If the uncollected mail fills up the your, then you either have to go to the post office to pick it up, or they put it in a parcel compartment (which forces people who have parcels to go to the post office to pick them up).
ETA: This post is prompted by a friend letting me know she just received the birthday card I mailed to her on November 4th.
The mailboxes for our cul-de-sac are at the entrance to our neighborhood. (Neighborhood is shaped like a lollipop with a short stick, most are on the "circle".) Once of us, usually whoever knows they are coming home first, pulls their car as closely to the mail "row" upon entering the neighborhood as possible, rolls down their window, and gets the mail.
I couldn't imagine now checking daily.
If we forget to get the mail on the drive in, one of us usually walks out to get it.
What do you all get in the mail that makes to so exciting? Ours is just ads and catalogs. Occasionally a bill that doesn't go straight to BOA (like my medical bills lately). And.... ummm.... that's it.

I don't get bills by mail, and we get maybe one catalog a week (I unsubscribe to everything) so really it is just magazines ( ) and the occasional check or card or invitation. And lots of pleas for donations from our alma maters. Many days we don't get anything. Still fun to look.

I've tried unsubscribing. We moved 18 months ago and now I get all the previous owners crap. *sigh*
OMG, there is this one motorcycle catalog that has been following me for 15 years! Ordered something for an exbf 15 years ago. I've called to stop it. I move, and it comes back! How the hell does that happen?!
Ours is in the mailroom and I'll skip it if I get to the lobby and the elevator is about to leave but H always checks it everyday when he works from home.

Minimum weekly unless I'm out of town. Usually not more than every few days. I pretty much only get bills and junk mail. My mail box is down the street and halfway down the next block. I rarely go that way in and out of the subdivision and its a lock metal box.

Have you tried opting out of the Direct Mail list and using Catalog Choice? I was religious about Catalog Choice (including for prior tenants) and now we very rarely get catalogs at all.
Ours is at our door so daily. My kids practically attack the mailman. I know his name is John, he has a dog, is 46, and does think his shoes are comfy.

I think I need to find religion again. lol
I did it at my last address. I don't think I've tried too hard at this one. I just bitch about it.
I'm almost like Kramer when he tried to stop receiving mail. I just really don't like the clutter and H never opens any mail so it sits in a pile until I open it our until I throw it out.
I love the mail so much and practically break down in tears at the thought of the post office ever going out of business. I got a $50 check the other day, from overpaying insurance. And the magazines! and my SIL and I mail random things to each other.

This is us. In fact, H has been gone, and I've been working crazy hours, so I have an enormous pile of CRAP on my kitchen table.
I check the mail far less often once the temps drop below 0*F...which it is now. It's dark outside in my off hours now, and walking to the mailbox is cold and dark. I should get a flashlight and stop my bitching, huh?
nooos! totally keep bitching about it. gathering the mail is such a hardship. lol, I don't even know why it bothers me so much. my box isn't even that far away.
Daily. We have an actual single box with a flag by the road at the end of the private drive we live on. Dh usually picks the mail up on his way home from work when he notices the flag.
