Yes! It was pretty bad if I remember correctly. DC is where reality shows come to die.
hahaha, yes! I just looked up the cast. I didn't watch it but saw two of them on a challenge episode one time. The girl seemed like a bitch from that 1/2 hour.
[Blind Gossip] A male Member of Congress from an East Coast state is being investigated for sexual improprieties with a 17-year-old boy. The attorneys are discussing whether they have enough evidence to charge the congressman with a crime.
The target of the investigation is over 40 and married with child/ren. He is a Republican.
State ABC agents charged University of Virginia honor student Martese Johnson with public intoxication even though they knew he was not drunk, according to a state police report on the controversial and bloody arrest of the 20-year-old African-American that shocked the state.
The finding that Mr. Johnson was falsely charged was disclosed Wednesday by Mr. Johnson’s attorney, Daniel Watkins of Williams Mullen law firm in Richmond.
It also confirms what Mr. Watkins and the university reported just a few days after the U.Va. junior was injured by white Alcoholic Beverage Control agents during his March 18 arrest outside a pub in downtown Charlottesville.
He was slammed to the brick sidewalk by the ABC agents and his head was gashed. Ten stitches were required to close his wound.
Mr. Watkins has seen the thick investigative report that is now in the hands of Dave Chapman, the Charlottesville commonwealth’s attorney. Mr. Chapman is studying the report and has not yet to decided to release it.
The case drew wide attention when photos of Mr. Johnson’s bloody face spread through social media. Outrage over the agents’ treatment of Mr. Johnson prompted Gov. Terry McAuliffe to order the State Police to conduct the investigation.
The governor also ordered changes in training, policy and procedures governing ABC agents, whose reputation has been tarnished by repeated allegations of brutality.
Mr. Watkins noted the State Police report runs several hundred pages and details, among other things, several hours of interviews, including one with Mr. Johnson on March 26.
The report also contains statements from the ABC agents involved in the early morning arrest and from University of Virginia and Charlottesville police officers who responded after the fact, Mr. Watkins said.
According to Mr. Watkins, the report states that ABC officers targeted Mr. Johnson after he was turned away from a bar to find out if he might be using a fake ID.
Along with public intoxication, Mr. Johnson also was charged with obstruction of justice without force for allegedly resisting as agents tried to handcuff him.
Mr. Watkins stated that Mr. Johnson cooperated with the agents and showed them his ID before he was grabbed suddenly and slammed to the sidewalk.
Mr. Johnson is due in Charlottesville General District Court on May 28. There is a possibility that Mr. Chapman will decline to prosecute based on the findings in the report.
There is a possibility? They need to prosecute the damn ABC cops
This is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo beyond wrong. WTF.
I have always been pro-choice but getting pregnant made me a much stronger choice proponent. I will never forget the woman on my birth month board who found out that her child had severe amniotic band syndrome at her 20w u/s. To add insult to injury, because of the state she lived in she had about 36 hours to make a decision re: termination. I just can't imagine going from finding out the sex of your baby to needing to make that decision in such a short amount of time. Her story is why I am against any bans, including late term. The precentage of women terminating "late term" is so small and I can only imagine that most of those women are terminating for medical reasons. That should be a choice left solely up to the woman.
I found out last week that they father who abandoned my brother and I when I was one and he was a newborn is alive and well in Utah. I found this out after receiving a FB friend request from his 28 year old daughter. He has two other kids as well. She has always known about my brother and I and always hoped to find us. It was very much like she thinks of us as her long lost siblings.
They are Mormons-from her FB appear to be pretty into it. I considered telling her I'm a democrat with a black husband but gave her a much more pointed GTFO with that bullshit after 35 years. It was so bizarre. A FB friend request after 35 years of zilch. Less than zilch
As quick as charges were filed (relatively) and as serious as they are, I have to wonder how much evidence they have - I would assume quite a bit but who knows, I guess.
Mosby's account of what happened was very detailed. She said exactly who did what at what time. It made me think there is a lot of evidence. The specificity made me wonder if much was caught on camera. Either that, or someone is talking.
I was thinking this too. Especially when she got to the last stop, or maybe 2nd to last stop and said how they could tell his condition had deteriorated. She hadn't said that during the parts about earlier stops. They have to know something (or a lot)
Freddie Gray's death has been ruled a homicide and probable cause has been found to file criminal charges in the case,Baltimore City State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby said in a news conference Friday.
I feel bad liking this but I am so happy to read this
ETA: also, why would the investigation be complete without a statement from the driver of the van? That seems so basic. pennypenny
Officers aren't required to give a statement. I just read about this because I wondered the same thing. The driver is under a criminal investigation at this point, along with the other officers, and he is not obligated to give up his rights in that regard.
Ok, even if (and it's a big fucking if) Freddie did do this to himself - What about ALL the other cases in the past 4 years that were PROVEN to be the police's fault. Are people willing to just gloss right over those, too?
I think that's exactly what will happen. All we will hear, IF he did this to himself, all we will hear is he did this to himself, the poor BPD, officers trying their best and look what happened.
BALTIMORE, Md. (WJLA) -- An investigation into the death of Baltimore resident Freddie Gray has found no evidence that his fatal injuries were caused during the videotaped arrest and interaction with police officers, according to multiple law enforcement sources.
The sources spoke to ABC7 News after being briefed on the findings of a police report turned over to prosecutors on Thursday as well as preliminary findings made by the medical examiner's office.
Sources said the medical examiner found Gray's catastrophic injury was caused when he slammed into the back of the police transport van, apparently breaking his neck; a head injury he sustained matches a bolt in the back of the van.
Details surrounding exactly what caused Gray to slam into the back of the van was unclear. The officer driving the van has yet to give a statement to authorities. It’s also unclear whether Gray’s head injury was voluntary or was a result of some other action.
DD was sick Mon-Wed and last night DS started puking from his post nasal drip and cough. I was doing puke laundry at 3:30 AM. It's been a fun day. DD also informed me last night she "won't be happy for the next 10 months" and it's all my fault. Good week in my house
I had to come back in here to say that I am so upset about all of this. I feel like I want to cry but I can't b/c I'm so angry. I want this to be part of change-I do not want this to be a huge lie, cover-up, etc. This needs to end. I think part of what makes me so sad is that my DH, who is black, is pretty non-nonchalant. For example, when I told him about this "leak" from the prisoner he was just like of course the police report is going to be self serving. The fact that he sees this as nothing new makes and is unsurprised makes me so upset. I know i'm just rambling but I feel like Hulk Smash at the moment.
In response to one of H's relatives posting something I agreed with, someone I don't know posted teh following:
" I don't think of the looters or rioters as blacks and no one should. They are nothing more than opportunistic criminals using a legitimate issue as an excuse for their horrific behavior. They do not represent African Americans. I am pro-police and do not envy them for what they deal with and face 24/7. I do not have sympathy for criminals when they commit crimes and, as a result, interact with the law. Changes must be made and not only by the police. It is time for our elected officials to use their skin color to make progress with this problem rather than excuse it and support the angst. It's not a white problem or a black problem. Its an American problem."
I keep typing and deleting my responses.
He sounds like this crazy who often uses the hashtag #racebaiter" about Obama
