Has anyone used one they were happy with? As a spin off to my Lovesac situation I’m thinking the whole room could use a bit of a facelift. Looking for someone to help with inspiration. I’m awful at it.
I don’t have expensive taste in general so not looking for someone who is going to suggest a $10k facelift.
If the service you are recommending has a referral code I’ll take one of those too!
I used Modsy to help decorate a couple of rooms in our new house back in 2020. I guess they merged with another company last year, so technically they don't exist anymore, but I had a really good experience overall. I think we only bought one piece of furniture they recommended; the rest I sourced from local furniture stores for a lot less than the vendors they were recommending. Mostly I just needed help picking colors and patterns and visualizing layouts for our spaces. Four years later I still love the rooms.
I should be able to send you a Havenly referral code. I’ve used them twice, for our living room and main bedroom.
I will say that in both cases I didn’t fully follow their design or furniture/decor picks, but it went such a long way in helping me visualize the space I wanted and then go find the right things. The layout of the space helped a ton for our living room in particular and getting the layout from them was great.

I would love a referral code whenever you get a chance. Thanks!!

I used Havenly and would not recommend it. I got it on a sale and it was like $100. I went into it "ok" with the fact that I might be totally wasting my money, but wanted to give it a try. And it turned out to be a waste of money. The designs all seem very "template" -ish to me. The designer would ask things I want and you'd rate the design. She would take feedback from the most recent desing into the next, but would forget/not look back to the original comments so it would have things I already said I didn't want. And if there was one thing about something I didn't like, she would change that one thing and other things that I did like.
It was fun to see the design (that I didn't want, lol) simulated in my actual space. However, I used a free desing service from a store and they came up with the same floor plan for free. (It doesn't show it in my space, it's just a floor plan). I would just say to go into it with low expectations. You might try a free design service first to see if they get you close to what you want.
I follow this woman named Julie Jones on Instagram and it's so interesting to see what she does. I don't know how much her services are, but from her videos it looks like she's comfortable working within all different kinds of budgets. And her videos alone have been so helpful for me to watch.

This is good to know.
I just signed up for it and my expectations are low so hopefully they exceed them. I really just want her to help me pick out a rug and a few knickknacks on my fireplace mantel. I also have a painting I need incorporated that is too small for its current spot. Anything else is extra.
We will see.
It will be a month wait for the kickoff so we probably won’t wait to order to e new couch and I told her which one so she can incorporate.
I used Modsy for our old house, and it was only useful for the layout suggested, which I hadn’t thought of because it was a weirdly shaped space. So that was helpful. But I didn’t really like any of the pieces they chose. Like I remember selecting the “child friendly” option and the designer gave me a 6 ft cactus, no joke.
I bought a package from an instagram interior designer that I like, but so far it’s not been great. Basically I’ve been waiting since October to get started. She keeps posting how much she is struggling with her mental health, so I’ve been super nice and patient, but I know she is working and I see her other projects, so come on! Or refund me!

Modsy was *very* helpful with coming up with a layout for our oddly-shaped room, and utilizing all of our existing furniture (including a Lovesac sectional, a large side chair, two smaller occasional chairs, and a vintage side table). I honestly don't know that I would have ever been able to get everything laid out well without that help.
I also used Havenly and like pp, thought it was just ok even for the $100 I paid. She didn’t seem to be able to understand the dimensions … I kept saying the stuff would not physically fit in the room. It also didn’t really work with the walking pattern.
For a different room, I also used Julie Jones Design. I love them and loved my experience. Her prices are right on her website. I worked with one of her more junior designers (Julie’s wait time is very long!) and I was super impressed and happy with what I received and have started implementing. They stuck to my budget and I double checked a few of the items to see if I could find them elsewhere for cheaper and they always had given me the least expensive option.
I’m actually thinking about working with them for the room I did with Havenly so I actually have a real plan lol.

Not the OP but thank you ftir sharing this! She popped up on my IG awhile back, and last night I started looking at her website. I really like her on Instagram, and it's good to hear the junior designers are good as well.
Do any of these places help with artwork? I used havenly for my living room with meh results. Also used room and boards design service and that was better (and free). Now I really need help with art work and how to style my mantle. Is there a service for that?
edit: my meh results weren't actually the designer's fault. I liked her design and got a lot of ideas, it was more that most things I wanted were out of stock and then she left the company 2/3rds of the way in and the company just stopped responding to any of my emails/messages.
