I have a personal loan. I have 4 more payments due and then it will be paid off. The payments are auto deducted from my bank account on the 14th of every month. For whatever reason, I receive a monthly statement in the mail. (Yes, I could probably have gone paperless a while ago, but I just haven’t on this one.) I also have Informed Delivery from USPS. The statement was on my Thursday email, but not in my mailbox. I’ve waited a few days to see if it would turn up, and nothing. I reported it through the USPS system. We’ve had some weird mail stuff happen before and things typically turn up (like my birthday gift that mysteriously arrived 3 weeks after it appeared in my email) so I’m not panicking or anything, just annoyed.
Would you call the loan company to give a heads up that the statement may have been delivered somewhere else? Unlike a CC statement, I don’t think there’s much you could do with this information, especially as it’s basically a “set it and forget it” kind of thing. We have cluster mail boxes, and it’s possible the statement was delivered to one of my neighbors, however I think they would have brought it over by now. I don’t really want to freeze my credit and get all new cards, and I don’t think that’s warranted, but I also don’t want to overlook something I’m maybe not considering?
I don’t think you have anything to worry about. Your loan number (if it’s even printed in full, they aren’t always) isn’t going to give anyone any info. And there shouldn’t be any info about the bank account you use to pay the loan. I probably wouldn’t take any action other than logging in to my account here and there to make sure nothing is amiss.
But if it’s worrying you even a little, a quick phone call to your lender to see what they recommend can’t hurt. I’m guessing they’re just going to offer to send out a new statement, and they’ll probably encourage you to use paperless billing, but it’s worth the call for your peace of mind.
We have cluster mailboxes. Most everyone seems to check them, at most, once a week. It’s taken 10+ days for misdelivered stuff to show up from a neighbor. And I’m guilty of taken even longer.
My neighbor gave his eye doctor my address (one number off). I notice we got *another* bill in fridays informed delivery. And this is like the 5th one, so I’m a bit tired of delivering it. I last checked the mail Thursday, so it’ll probably be a week before I make it there again. And then taking it over there?

For the eye doc one, I’d probably mark it return to sender and mail it back. Your neighbor is not remembering, despite multiple attempts on your part. They might not know or remember there’s anything wrong. The doctor will deal with it and call them if you send it back.

Thanks! I started typing that out and feeling like a bad neighbor. Lol. But it’s not a close neighborhood. Like, we are all cordial with each other, but nothing more. If it weren’t for getting his mail, I’m not sure I’d know his name lol
I wouldn’t worry about it yet. I’ve had lots of discrepancies with informed delivery. It’s scanned at a facility so it may have been delayed somewhere past that point and could be in the mail truck. Some people hardly ever check their mail so it could be in your neighbors box, or they may have just thrown it back in the out mail box for the mail person to redeliver and it will be routed through the local system again.
As long as your old statements don’t have your social security number on them and your bill gets paid, there’s not much concern for identity theft, which is unlikely with the locked mailboxes. Info like your name and address could be found a lot of other places.
