I went out yesterday for what I thought was just one drink with a friend and it ended up being 4 drinks + dinner lol. It was fine though, H and DS were happy just chilling at home on a rainy day. I would've gone home if we had plans or they wanted to do something.
Today has been a relaxing day at home for the most part. I got laundry done, house tidied up, got a walk in, groceries ordered and picked up, and a few other errands. Tacos/nachos and margaritas tonight for dinner.
I read a book, made my lunches for the week, went grocery shopping and rode my exercise bike to no where this morning. Oh, and dropped off a microwaveable cat full of chamomile smelling stuff for my mom while she's recovering from her knee replacement surgery.
DS had soccer and we were supposed to be there all day, but the skies seriously opened up and they cancelled DD's game right beforehand. DD had a minor meltdown about wasting her day and threw some soccer balls. *sigh*
I want to say that I am fricking love coaching with MH. I think it's been so fun for both of us, but the hardest part is that DS takes criticism to heart. It's a bit difficult to balance.
My mom booked us a vacation for June 3, which includes a cruise leaving from Florida. I used to live in Fort Lauderdale and have spent a lot of time in Key West but haven't been in several years, so if anyone has recommendations either along the water taxi line or anywhere in Key West, LMK. My mom came to visit me a lot so we've done all the museums and whatnot in both places.
circa1978, my girlfriend cruise in January changed ports last minute to key west. We ended up going to Judy Blooms bookstore (she wasn’t there) and getting lunch and drinks somewhere. It was nothing exciting, but fun.
TW: weight/scale related I have a weird weight loss question. For about a month, people have been commenting that I’m losing weight, and even I think I look like it. This bothers me because a - the scale says I’m not and b - I don’t really like the reminders that people notice weight. Then, about 2 days ago, the scale started dropping. Like 4 pounds in 2 days. Water weight doesn’t really make sense (just trust me, I won’t type out all the reasons why). And, it got me thinking - is this a thing? Like, I’ve been toning up and building muscle from working out, and then, after the fact it starts dropping? If that makes sense?

I have heard of this, I think they call it the “woosh effect” in low carb diets.

Had a good Sunday. Took the dog for a walk, went to the pool with DD, went to a stretch yoga. I hadn't been swim suit shopping in four years so I went to TJ Maxx. I really had to pump myself up. I'm working with a dietitian on body positivity and gentle nutrition so I'm trying not to be too self critical but damn swim suits are hard. They show everything. And Im 50 soon so my body has changed a lot. I tried on 13 and got four and tried to remember to look at the mirror and see what I liked. I was like look at your strong shoulders, don't look at your stomach. At least I didn't spend much, $100 for four. I'll go look at cover ups later and that will be much more fun.

The weather was crappy and I have a half marathon scheduled for 2 weeks from now, so I sucked it up and ran 90 minutes on the treadmill. I did a 45 min apple fitness treadmill class that included hills and then did the other 45 min on my own. I’m very proud of myself!

Thank you! I don’t low carb, but it’s so weird. And my history of cancer, with weight loss being the primary symptom… well, this is why I don’t diet and try to lose weight. I just exercise far more than I have since I was in college. But I do weigh myself daily, because of the history of cancer and…l well, weigh loss freaks me out lol
Ugh, going back to work tomorrow after a week off. I have SO much waiting for me. It’s already a stressful time of year (May, in education) and there are a few extra things on top of the usual. I’m languishing in the few lazy hours I have left.
rubytue ohh, that's such a great idea. Will definitely add that to the list. I'm never sad about visiting the Keys but it's not exactly a port I would pick if I were planning it but hey,I'm not paying! It will be the week of Pride too, which will be cool. I've been to Fantasy Fest but never Pride there.
circa1978, it was kind of an impulsive thing. We got on the ship, and after we left they told us we were going to key west instead of the private island. I made an offhand comment to one friend about Judy Bloom having a bookstore there and she works there once a week. She loved the idea, and we soon had a whole contingent of folks wanting to go to just breathe in Judy blooms legacy. Lol. I couldn’t remember where is was, so I texted a friend on land, as no one had a wifi package, to get the address. Of course, once we got off, we had cell service and could navigate there. It was definitely walking distance to the port.

"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”

How did you take a week off in May?! I’m jealous.
I’m not a classroom teacher, I’m admin and work year round.

rubytue if you're losing fat and gaining muscle, which is very likely with your increased exercise, your body composition is changing even if your total weight doesn't change. People talk about that as "losing weight" when really it sounds like you're leaner at the same weight. As far as the loss goes, bodies are like that some times, especially female bodies. Obviously if you continue dropping weight that's worth looking into especially with your medical history, but the numbers you're mentioning are within the realm of random fluctuations that even out over the course of a week or two. If you worked out particularly hard last weekend, for example, you might have been retaining some extra water and have now gotten back to your normal.
emilyinchile, thanks! I mean, I know it’s with the rhelm of normal and such. And I know I said not water, but I guess what I meant is not my usual water bounce. Which is has been between XX4 and XX6 for months. And then BAM! XX2 followed by XX0. I am not worried at all. More of a, wow, maybe it’ll catch up to what I see. Which, as much as I really try to not be stuck on the scale and numbers, it can still be nice to see them move. But yet, I do not focus on them at all. And I have a speech prepared for doctors that focus on them. And I’ve used it lol
