Too cluttered with light pollution where I am, but my parents are in a rurban area and will probably see them. I've seen them several times when I lived farther north, and the best time was probably when I saw them from a plane.
I can see them when I take pictures, but not with a naked eye. Friends a town over claim they could see after letting their eyes adjust, but I laid outside for 10 minutes and I could get a vague sense of where to point my phone, but couldn't actually see them.
I'm letting it get a bit darker and then heading out again.
Also, as if I didn't hate my dog neighbors enough already, they've left their bright ass back porch light on. 🙄
I'm so jealous of everyone seeing the Northern Lights. Apparently some people saw them in NC, but it was too cloudy in my city to see much. It's definitely on my bucket list.

A friend of mine was in a rural town about 45 min from me last night and she was able to see them with a naked eye. I'm thinking it might have to do with the amount of light pollution?

I am so sad we missed it. K has been sick all week and is only just now starting to feel better, so we opted not to drive somewhere dark. It was too cloudy early on and we have LED street lamps in our neighborhood so when I woke up at 2:45 and went outside, although it was clear, I couldn’t see anything. My friend in Georgia saw them, as did many, many FB friends, so it looks like it put on quite a show. I’m so happy for them, but so sad for me.
Hoping hoping hoping tonight will be good too because I’m making my family drive somewhere (even though I am beginning to feel like crap too). This is a huge bucket list item for me and if I hadn’t already had an edible and taken NyQuil last night, I would have gone by myself.
We couldn't see it at our house even though people in our town could.
H took the kids 45 minutes north and they could see it but not bright colors.
I don't get it!
It’s sort of like “seeing a ghost”
For us here, we could see some faint moving lights with the naked eye, some discoloration in the night sky. As soon as you looked at it through your phone camera, the colors lit up.
My mom was recently in Greenland and gave me the tip about looking at it through your phone. Here’s more info-
We live in a suburban area with streetlights and H and DS went out after I was asleep and saw it with the naked eye. This is through DH's phone with a long exposure, no filter.
ETA: I am in rural Ohio right now and went out searching for a good spot last night but didn’t have much luck. My pics are mostly grainy darkness but once I played with the settings (okay, quite a lot) this morning, I was able to pull some color forward. My sister the photographer acknowledges there’s a lot of doctoring but also that the camera can’t create color from nothing. So we were at least in the presence of something, anyway.
Going to try again tonight, maybe from our eclipse spot since that was a lucky one for us. 🤞
I couldn't see much with my naked eye in northern Utah, but my phone camera picked up diffused red, pink, and green light. It was very cool, and I'll definitely be looking again tonight.
I live in the Lansing, MI area, and the fam and I headed north of town about 15 miles to a park and ride. It was pretty amazing!! I wish we’d had time to scout out a better location, as there were a lot of cars on the road and a house with a pretty bright security light, but with clouds rolling in we didn’t have time. This afternoon we’re headed to MIL’s house, as she lives north of us, and I already have a good place scouted out.

try looking through your phones camera. hard to pick up with naked eye. You can sort of see very faint green and pink coloring in the night sky but the streaks and glow are only seen in pictures here.
