I am really not impressed with the new Sonos app. Which is really saying something because the old one wasn't very good either... but at least it let me control the volume reliably.
I walked into work and it was complete random chaos. First, our doorbells to tell us when the front doors open were set to Christmas music bells. Second, our internet was down. I track down the problem and reboot the surge protector. Something happened overnight and the power went out which drained the batter on the surge protector, and now it's beeping every couple of minutes. Called the IT guy, and I'm going to switch everything over to a regular surge protector. However, I have to do it in a certain order or else I'll have to call Comcast (no please no) to have them come and reboot our system.
What the hell happened here last night?
I've been on a binge watch of all og l&o, so you really don't want my opinion. Watch your back!

Why are their applications such crap? Thanks for the heads up, I'll try not to update it for a while.
I'm wearing white pants in the office today and hoping that no one is judging me because Memorial Day isn't for another two weeks. Is that even still a thing?
I wear white jeans in the winter, as long as it hasn't rained in a while. White is no longer just for summer. Vogue even talks about white to wear in winter: www.vogue.com/article/winter-white-outfits

The gnomes got together and threw a rager! A Christmas in May themed party.
I switched my dog’s food, and she has had such a history of iron constitution, I didn’t slowly mix. And that’s been fun. I think she got the last of the change dealt with last night. Between midnight and 2am. And I said fuck it and decided I was calling in at 2am. So I took the day off. I had no meetings. I won’t end up behind on anything. Honestly, I wouldn’t have done much today. But yet, I feel guilty. I so rarely call in.
LOL my kid discovered my work email via Google and has now taken to randomly sending me one sentence emails throughout the day. It's fine except she doesn't understand that I'm not on my email constantly through the day so if I don't reply right away she starts hounding me so I've had to check her on that! She just thinks she's so smart that she found it haha
I found an egg in my garden this morning, we don't have any farm animals so my best guess is a small duck traveled through. I candled it and didn't see anything, womp womp. Any experts here know if I should keep it for a few more days just in case? Put it back? Sit on it?
I was looking forward to having a baby duck or chicken that H couldn't say no to.
I would get rid of it if it's not in an established nest and you aren't going to incubate it somehow.
We had a duck build a nest under a bush in our yard this year. She laid 13 eggs and was consistently sitting on them except when she'd leave to eat, but then one weekend she left and didn't come back. DD was bereft, so she candled one of the eggs and saw veins and whatnot, so she built an incubator and kept it in our garage until the eggs started to smell about 2 days ago (their incubation period is 28 days and should have hatched sometime during the 1st week of May). We also didn't disturb the eggs we left in the next until we gave up on the incubated eggs too, but then we threw the all out, and they were gross.
I will say, the weekend the momma duck left, we had temps in the low 30's, so I'm guessing it got too cold for the eggs to survive entirely which is why she abandoned them (this is just a guess obviously). But it was an ordeal for DD for sure.
wildrice , I also feel I have not prepared for the primary very well. It was also so far away, and now here. I’m going for Alsobrooks over Thorne. But that’s like all I know.
edit - just to show how unprepared I am, I just opened my sample ballot and scanned the list for rep, and I didn’t see Sarbanes. And WTF, he is not running for re-election. By some fluke of gerrymandering he has been my rep since I lived in AA county, and still now. But he wasn’t on the ballot. And now I have t research 30 names.

I got a fraud alert on one of my cc's yesterday. 2 companies charged $0 at different times, so they said they were likely testing the card to see if it would go through and not be flagged. I'm glad they caught it and it's easy to take care of since they were $0, but of course it was the card that most places have 'on file' for me and now I get to call all those places and update.
I'm wearing a white linen button down shirt today, and I just ate a fish taco for lunch with salsa falling out of it, and I didn't get any on my shirt! I'm proud. I don't usually buy white shirts for this reason...

I had read an article last week saying the new version is an upgrade unless you care about one particular feature that I don't use, so I updated. I have regrets. However, my Sonos is a very old unit that I got for free, so I don't have much of a leg to stand on in terms of complaining about it. I do wonder if newer units work better with the app.
My biggest issue is the app frequently can't find the device. I assume it's because I have a wireless mesh network and my phone moves around with me frequently, so it might not be using the same access point as the Sonos. I doubt newer Sonos hardware would fix that, but I don't know for sure.
I thought white was fine after Easter and before Labor Day? Not that I think it matters but there are a lot of very traditional white Easter outfits and Easter is never after Memorial Day .
We always followed white between Easter and Labor Day growing up. Maybe because we are in the south? It's hitting 90 already.

I have newer speakers, and I don't have an issue with our mesh network. It's a pain in the ass to get everything connected, though.
My house backs up to a small wetland forest, and there are coyotes in the area.
This morning, the coyotes (which likely have pups right now) were having a conversation with the neighbors' dogs. And by neighbors, I mean every.neighbor.with.a.dog. The dogs in the houses not backing the forest were participating by howling instead of barking.
If I had to guess, it was probably started by the coyotes sniffing around the rooster neighbor's chickens, and their dogs having some thoughts.

This doesn’t deserve its own thread, but do you notice hairy legs on other women? I bought three absolutely gorgeous new dresses and while I usually only wax below the knee I haven’t yet this white jeans / Memorial Day season.
I’d really like to wear one today but am holding back. It’s tea length with two layers + an extra layer of tulle so no one will notice, right?
Well, I have cast my primary ballot, and there was only one old, white male that got my vote (Biden). I was intimidated by the long list of candidates for rep, since the incumbent retired, that I needed to research. I started with females that had names a little less “American” than, say, Sarah Johnson. And I basically went down the list of females until I found one whose website indicted policies I’d be happy with. So, I didn’t research all 30, and it might not be the best. But I’m happy with my choice.

I absolutely do not give a shit about body hair. I think having formative years in the hairless aughts really fucked a lot of people up as far as grooming expectations.

No I never do! And I'm a pretty observant person. Down with the patriarchy, shave or don't shave. Don't hold back, wear what you love.
I also wear white jeans year round. I'm nowhere close to the height of fashion, but I wear what I want. LOL.
This week has been hard with lots of bad health news from friends. They warned me once you hit your 50s and they weren't wrong. Just want to be there for them and it's also a good reminder to live every square inch of your life.
I can't decide if I want to keep going to regular therapy or take a break. I've taken a few breaks in the four years I've seen my counselor and I know she's fine with whatever I decide. My grief for my mom is lifting, it's been almost three years. It's still there but not as raw.
An acquaintance of mine self-published a book that is pretty much a tell-all about the exact circumstances of her divorce and all the sleeping around she did in the midst of it. She basically published her diaries from the time with all her unfiltered thoughts. I've seen a few excerpts, and it's... a lot.
She still shares a friend group with her ex, and co-owns a business with him. She is encouraging all of her friends to buy the book and read it. It's so awkward.
I’m a little jealous! I love mess and I wouldn’t feel awkward at all if she was encouraging me to buy (and read) it! She wants you to be up in her business!
We were friends with one couple that had a real sudden break up and I wish one of them would write a memoir because what we do know is tantalizing lol

Patsy Baloney They’re looking fabulous! No shaping or tweezing (except for some random strays) in the last 15-18 months and I’m kind of digging the anti Kate Moss look!

I still don’t feel better and I am so frustrated. I have to use the nebulizer at a minimum twice a day, still use my rescue inhaler, am on day 8 of Prednisone plus a bunch of allergy medication. I’m waiting to hear back from my doctor because this is not a sustainable way to live, I can’t do anything and it’s so frustrating.
