Ok so let me preface this by saying when I first moved in with H, it was a true bachelor pad. I lived out of wardrobe boxes for 5 years. When we moved, I was adamant about having an extra bedroom I could make my closet room. In turn, he got a finished basement (man cave) and a 3 car garage.
This was basically when it was first completed. You can tell bc the stack of shoes is somewhat low!
This is a more recent pic of my shoes.
(I have taller boots stacked in boxes on the opposite wall under my dresses.) Jeans are stacked on the left and pants are hanging above the shoes.
Shirts on the left, skirts in the middle, dresses on the right. You can kinda see my boots under my dresses. The far right plastic drawers have all my cardigans. Tee shirts and camis and what not are folded on shelves. I bought a wood step stool to help with the tall stuff. The cubes in the middle have scarves, tights, socks, etc.
My dress collection is out of control. I have like 15 skirts compared to 200 dresses. I switched from plastic hangers to thin velvet to help make some room. Not as drastic of a change as I had hoped but I don't have to use all my brute strength to take dresses on and off their hangers anymore. (Top pic is before, bottom is after)
This is looking the other way at my jewelry armoire and dress form.
The laundry room is just off my closet room, which is super convenient. And then that door you see that my hanging jewelry organizer is on leads to a walk in closet (my closet has a closet) which has a pocket door leading to a guest bath. I have started just showering in the master bath but using this bathroom to get ready in the morning. Way easier since the master bath is on the opposite end of the house from my closet room.
That's a stand up shower that I don't use. I wish we could just get rid of it and make more counter space.
I just hung the nail polish shelf today! It's the crafts organizer from michaels someone had posted about on here before. It was half off, so I bought it. And I really thought I had more bottles than this...
And that's it!! Thanks for taking the tour and letting me share. If you're ever in the St. Louis area, you're totally welcome!
Yes, organization is a must bc this could get ugly real fast! I hated our old house bc things could be in 5 different places. H is pretty bad with clutter so this is my one safe haven in the house.
Oh wow, that's amazing! Not only is it gorgeous but it looks so functional. Can I be nosey for a sec? Is the pink thing in the black frame in your bathroom the card that came from a recent Kate Spade purchase? If so I have the same card and love the saying on it; I was thinking about framing it and taking it to my new office. Would that be weird?
Run- I'm a 6! I seriously only know one other person who is a 6!!
Boston- yes, it totally is! I framed mine so no, I don't think it's weird. I love the phrase! I saved another and was thinking of framing it as a gift or just bringing it to work for my desk! Do it!
And thanks, everyone! For a closet I made on my own, it's pretty amazing. Well, H helped me hang the shelves I'm thankful that H puts up with my habit.

Holy cow!!! Yesterday I said in the OOTD that when I grow up I want to have as much fashion sense as you. Well when I grow up I just want to be you and have your closet. AMAZING!!!
I showed DH and told him I want a closet room. He said NO. I no longer feel guilty about my clothes. I have about a 1/4 of you. I think it is time to get some more clothes and shoes!!!!! =)
Ha! I've been told by a few guy friends to never show or talk about my closet to their wives. Although I am happy to vindicate some of you from thinking you have too much stuff! I do have quite a problem tho, we will see how I do in 2013. H won't let me put a spiral staircase in there and expand to the basement. I can't seem to win that battle!
Jcho- ok! Will def give you first dibs on anything I'm thinking of letting go!
Also, I just showed H these pics. I was all "hey, remember when I said that the next place we get needs to have an extra room so I can have a closet room?" ----crickets----H: "I have no idea what you are talking about".
LOL...All I know is I DID talk to him about a closet room, and at that time, he said "okay, sure"...and so that's what I'm going with.
