Fast food chain Chick-Fil-A has been accused of being anti-gay for supporting organizations such as Focus on the Family, which oppose gay marriage.
Company president Dan Cathy said this week that his company is “guilty as charged.”
In an interview with the Baptist Press, Cathy said Chick-Fil-A is “very much supportive of the family - the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that.”
The chain, founded in 1946 by Cathy’s father, S. Truett Cathy, donated a total of $2 million to anti-gay groups including the Marriage & Family Foundation and the Family Research Council in 2010, according to Business Insider.

Chick-Fil-A gave another $2 million to many of the same organizations in 2009.
The donations, made through the company’s charity organization, WinShape, prompted Boston’s Northeastern University to scrap plans for a Chick-Fil-A on its campus earlier this year.
Despite a corporate statement declaring that the purpose of Chick-Fil-A is “to glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us,” Cathy told the Baptist Press that it isn’t a Christian business.
Christianity “is about a personal relationship,” he said. “Companies are not lost or saved, but certainly individuals are. But as an organization we can operate on biblical principles.”

I do not see plays, because I can nap at home for free. And I don't see movies 'cause they're trash, and they got nothin' but naked people in 'em! And I don't read books, 'cause if they're any good, they're gonna make 'em into a miniseries.

OMG. My mom eats there like 5 times a week. I don't know why she won't stop! She is a liberal atheist. WHY?!?
Because their roadside billboards are hilaaaaarious. The cow, on the cow, tagging 'Eat more chiken'? Never gets old. Like that old Toyota one that said 'Keep your eyes on the road'. Lulz
My mom eats a ton of breakfast there. But I think it's mostly grilled chicken bagel or something? So she says. If it's not the fried stuff, why bother?

CFA was the only outside food on our college campus. I think I might have eaten there once? I seriously don't get the love. It's fast food. That's the type of thing you eat on a road trip, not on purpose when there are other options.
Can I write to them to say I'm boycotting but still go a few times a year? I mean, they even have sticky placemats for toddlers. Sigh....
I know! And at the one near my house when I have the kids with me they always bring my food to my table for me and come check to see if we need refills on our wonderful lemonade or sweet tea. Oh god, I'll miss their sweet tea
The thing is - I see this as HIM. One guy. Yes, he runs it. But I dont see this as a "they/them" thing. He comes across as a bit off his rocker.
HE is an ass, but THEY give millions to anti-gay groups. And those millions come from your chicken sandwich purchase. His being an ass is just icing on the bigotry cake.
But no one's saying you can't eat there, so if you're cool with that, go for it!

No, I'm not seeing it as one guy.
My grandfather was actually in the fast food business back in the day, decades ago, long before I was born. He told me he tried to buy CFA when it was really tiny. The owner refused b/c he wanted control to keep it strongly Christian. Now, my gpa is Christian, and republican, so there was no personal conflict, but my grandfather also kept his restaurants open on Sundays. My grandfather thought it was awesome and respected it.
Anyway, anecdote aside, I think it's more than just 1 guy. It's the entire organization. And I won't give them money (if they were in my state), just as I wouldn't give anyone who supports CPCs my money. I can get food elsewhere.
