Which as you mention, is silly. I use reviews a lot when making decisions and often choose a product that has many hundreds of good reviews vs only a small amount of reviews. I should probably "give back" more in that aspect!
I always fill out TripAdvisor reviews, I take my Senior Contributor badge very seriously! lol. They also give me random free photo books from Shutterfly and I've received some other things.
Other than that, I don't fill out many reviews, it's rare.
I write lots of reviews on Trip Advisor, but not a lot of reviews on goods I've purchased. I was really pleased with a gift for H I ordered off Amazon; I ordered it Sunday night and got the Free Super Saver Shipping which was supposed to take 5-8 days and it got here today! Plus all the parts were still in place even though it was on my porch upside down, so I might go and write a good review for that.

I will if I have something to say, but most of the time it would not be a helpful review (it's good. fits.) or there are already 500 reviews and I don't have anything new to add.
I do review things more often if I get a follow-up email reminding me or offering a discount/sweepstakes.
I recently bought a pair of Bearpaw boots and posted a reveiw because the sizing seem to run small and thought that would be helpful.
This is true. I needed an 11 in bearpaw boots, but I just acquired a pair of uggs in a size 9.
I fill out for things like electronics especially if I'm happy with the product. I'm kind of obnoxious about positive feedback. If I like something I ant to tell everyone.
I generally don't for clothing because I feel like I'm too awkwardly proportioned to give useful feedback.
I always leave feedback for ebay and etsy sellers, and often for amazon sellers. But for the products themselves, I usually only do if it was very good or bad. I do try to review local places I go to a lot on yelp, especially if they don't have many reviews.
It really depends, I'm not consistent one way or another.
I did leave a review a year+ after purchasing our vanity lights, they started to rust! I am pissed b/c they are advertised as bathroom lights, and yet are rusting.
Sometimes. I try and do it for things that have fewer reviews or reviews that are awful (hello 1 star because of a seller error). I rely HEAVILY on reviews, so I should really do it more.
No, but I really should because I live and die by reviews.
I do fill out star ratings on Goodreads so my friends can see what I thought of books, and I pretty religiously fill out Zagat reviews (because I get free stuff for doing so). And I leave feedback on ebay/etsy.
I review businesses and restaurants pertty frequently on Yelp. It's also helpful to remember the names of places, especially when I'm in another city ... we ate in a nice little pub in London and I forgot the name/location, so when I finally tracked it down a couple years later I did a review on Yelp so I wouldn't forget again.
I do randomly. The most recent one I did was for a flat iron that could be used overseas. I rely on the reviews and there weren't a lot for what I bought and it worked well enough so I reviewed it.
I love writing reviews, especially on Amazon. I'm actually a member of Amazon Vine, where they send me free products and I get to review and keep them.
It depends. If there are a lot of reviews posted and my thoughts have already been said (and probably in a better way than I could write), then I don't bother. I did post a review on Amazon for a yoga video recently because it was a new release with no other reviews posted, I thought the info about the DVD on the site was pretty vague about what to expect, and I've been doing yoga for almost 20yrs so I felt I could give an intelligent perspective. I wish I could travel more so I could write more reviews about hotels and restaurants (a Samantha Brown wannabe here), but when I do get the chance to travel, I generally feel to busy getting everything settled back to 'real life' to take the time to do so.
