I wasn't sure where else to ask this question, but I ordered a Kindle Fire HD 8.9, and it's coming today (I have the Kindle Touch already).
I wanted to know if anyone here has experience "sideloading" Android apps that are not from the Amazon App Store and if you could speak generally about the experience.
Also, I read in one place that there are possible issues using Whispersync between the Fire HD and regular Kindle (works one way but not the other?) I wasn't able to find anything else on this and I have no issues with iPhone Kindle app and Kindle Touch, so I was surprised to read about it.
I just want to see if there is anything I should be aware of that should lead me to send it back before I tear into it!
I haven't tried sideloading apps, but I've never tried unlocking/sideloading anything on anything! I'm afraid of breaking something and the Kindle Fire is my husband's. He hasn't seen a need and he's much better with electronics than I am. I've been able to find the apps I want in the kindle store, for the most part.
I haven't had a problem with whispersynch between my old Kindle 2, my iPhone and the Kindle Fire. But, IMO, it's not that big of a deal if you have to prompt one device to synch and check for new items. If all else fails, I just look up the "location number" on the device I'm reading it on and plug it into the other device. Or if I'm the beginning of a chapter I find most books have a hyperlinked table of contents. Most of the time I don't use synch on my Kindle 2, anyway, because I don't want to turn on the 3G and accidentally leave it on and drain the battery. But, like I said, I can't specifically remember a time when my devices haven't synched automatically. But I could just be forgetting because it's not that important to me.
