I really want a stroller that comes with a flat bassinet The P&T website says this model now comes with the adapter that allows you to rear face the child seat, and also allows the seat to recline. I'm pretty sure it comes with the car seat adapter clips, too.
Has anyone been happy with this brand and/or model?
I would suggest the bugaboo over the P&T - I have friends who have both and the P&T is poor quality and their CS sucks. One friend even had both and sold her P&T to go back to the bugaboo.

If you're interested in the UBV, know that the 2012s should be discounted soon, if not already. I know AlbeeBaby.com had certain colors on sale for about $570 over Thanksgiving weekend. The UBV has excellent resale value, too.

I can't stress how much I love my uppa baby vista! To be honest though, we probably could have lived without the vista. DS would go in occasionally but it was pretty cold when he was itty bitty so I usually wore him when we went out so he would stay warm. We use the regular stroller all the time now and it is great. The underneath basket is HUGE so I can basically do a weeks worth of grocery shopping. It is fantastic.
If you think you could do w/out the bassinet then you could get the new uppa baby cruz, which is less expensive.
The UBV does have a car seat adapter. I never used it, as I am one of those weirdos tha think that car seats should only be used in the car
ETA: Oh and I got my UBV on a flash sale for like $400 or so.
All other similar strollers are so expensive. Is this an area where I should splurge?
Do you in an area where you do a ton of walking on a daily basis or do you mostly drive places? Will you be be getting the stroller in and out of the car a lot? I toyed with buying an expensive stroller with my first, and a friend talked me out of it. I am so glad--it would have been such a waste for us, even considering that we are on our third kid. We drive most places, so getting a giant stroller in and out of the car would have been annoying, and our kids ride in strollers so much less than I would have imagined.
We bought a snap n go and MacLaren umbrella stroller. They served our needs fine. We eventually got a BOB for the hike and bike trails and neighborhood walks and a sit n stand when we had our second kid, but I have never missed not having a Bugaboo or the like. I think I would feel very differently if we lived in a city where we walked everywhere, though.
The baby will be in daycare M-F. On weekends we drive wherever we go, as there's not much to do within walking distance. If we're outside, we're not going for walks, we're usually hanging in the backyard with the dog.
We're not big mall people, or in-person shoppers. (We mainly shop online.) So a trip to the mall would be fairly rare.
In the fall months we go to a few country fairs. Sometimes we stroll on the sidewalk along the beach.
We also travel a good bit, so I don't want something incredibly bulky. That's one of the reasons the Phil & Ted's stroller looks like a smart choice. It's their "Smart Buggy" which is a bit more compact. Most of our travel is international. We're either in a European city or have a rental car. I don't want a big jogging type stroller for vacation, and I would love to get away with one decent stroller, and maybe one super compact cheapie umbrella.
I suppose what I really need to weigh is the bassinet. I like that I can use that in the house. I see myself utilizing that a good bit during maternity leave. I can put the baby on the coffee table (large) while I'm on the couch so he's out of reach from the dog, carry the bassinet up and set it on the floor or my bed while I nap, and take it with me when I visit the IL's about 15 minutes away.
I really want to baby-wear a lot, so I hope to reach for slings/carriers vs. strollers when possible at first.

This is me. I hate infant carrier car seats. I don't see myself wanting to go that route unless I have to. They are big, bulky, and I don't like seeing a baby all squished in it, unable to lay flat or stretch.

Given this, I would skip the big fancy stroller with bassinet and just get a good quality umbrella stroller for occassional weekend use and travel. If you want the bassinet mostly for use in the house, get an inexpensive moses basket. We had one and used it the way you are talking about--carried it from room to room, but it on the floor or bed, etc.--and it worked great.
I don't have that model, but I bought a Phil & Teds two years ago with the infant seat adapter and the doubles kit, and I LOVE it. it's a great quality product, both my kids like riding in it (the 4 yo doesn't use it much now unless we're going for a long walk and he gets tired) and it's held up well. We needed to get a new handle for ours because we beat it when we fold it up, and their customer service was excellent.
