H and I have been looking into adding juicing to our diets. It would be easier to buy in bulk rather than 15 pounds of veggies/fruits from Trader Joes or farmers markets. Does Costco have a good produce section? Lots of variety? Anything organic?
I'm not sure what else we would buy there, maybe toiletries and meats. Do you think it's worth it? I've never been in one, but I know my mom bought snacks and stuff for softball games there because it was cheaper. What do you buy there?
Yes, yes, yes. I love these posts. This is what we typically buy:
Produce Olive oil Rotisserie chicken Dog food Cat litter Clothes Beer Pasta Butter Frozen chicken Fish Tri tip Deodorant Shampoo/conditioner Vitamins TP Paper towels Bottled water Cleaning products
The Kirkland (generic) brand is very good, and very well-priced for most items.
We think it's worth it. We've been members for 5 years now. And it's just the two of us.
Their produce section is okay. My only problem with it is that I can't eat all of that produce before it goes bad. They do have some organic produce there.
Keep in mind that you can buy non-food items there too. We have paid for our membership getting new tires on my car. And we buy pet food, toiletries, vitamins, coffee, laundry detergent, and dish soap there. {The list is much longer than that, but you get the idea.} Oh, you can also get movie tickets there for ~$8/ticket.
I like / love Costco, but I don't know that produce is really going to be a huge money saver for you. When I've looked at produce, it seems similar in price to the regular grocery store, and is sold in large amounts that my family of 2 can't finish before it goes bad.
Depends what you get. Juicing uses a TON of produce.
I can get a giant thing of lettuce at Costco that will keep me in salad for a week. It's the same price as a small container at the regular grocery.
Apples keep forever, so I sometimes buy giant things of apples there, and it's just me.
And the bell pepper six-pack can't be beat, but I use those a ton.
I love Costco so much. Our favorite products are: laundry detergent, string cheese, tortilla chips, meat (especially large roasts), greek yogurt, spices, nuts, toilet paper, sparkling water, dress shirts for DH, and the occasional big purchase like a TV or digital camera. Also, the gas prices alone are worth it and their hot dogs are delicious!
I love our Costco memebership. I am there regularly to buy 10 lb. bags of carrots - they are $6. I've been asked if I was a juicer, but I buy them for my horses.

We are getting a Costco next year...2 miles from my work. I'm so excited! We don't currently have any other Costcos in the state and any other wholesale/bix box stores are far enough away that they aren't worth it to me. I'm totally joining as soon as that thing opens!
ETA: Also this will be great for the neighborhood b/c it's a currently abandoned/blighted property since Katrina...and also the jobs that it will provide.

That's great! My friend owns the dry cleaners near there. The Costco will be great for that neighborhood.
