I used to work for a company that did online marketing for funeral homes & cemeteries. The industry is fascinating. Not at all what most people expect.
I was looking up a financial question, and one of the first links was The Nest. So I wandered around there for a while before realizing that it wasn't very active. A little more research led me here!

Exactly! I don't embalm people or anything, although I am licensed to do so.

Everything I know about funeral directing I learned from "Six Feet Under." I have no desire to believe it's any different from that.
I'm not really involved in the actual burial process, but we do have a lot of families that want an entirely "green" reception. My work is more lined up with the reception (food, music, guests) than with anything else.

To be honest, I've never heard of that. What did you learn from it?

So you're not actually a funeral director? Because most receptions that I've planned and/or attended, the funeral home has no involvement. It's usually either an actual reception venue, where weddings, luncheons, meetings, etc. take place, or one connected to the church where the funeral was.

No, my title is Funeral Director/Event Coordinator. I work for a company that has a new style of funerals. We only give you a minister if you request one, we only set up the pew-like-seating if that's what you ask for. Otherwise, you sit at round tables with centerpieces and have a catered meal. Definitely not the norm, but it's why I love the company.
I know, but I work with people who are all about 5 years younger than I am, so I'm sure they haven't heard of it either.
If you've never heard of it, how do you know young people won't know it? Now I really don't believe that you hadn't heard of it.
This is a very odd introduction.
I assumed that this was an older movie?
Adding: Upon a quick Google search I see that this was a TV show from 2001-2005. The people I work with were around 13-15 during this time. Was it a teen's show?

No, it was on HBO.
I still find it odd that you have never heard of Six Feet Under nor yhave your colleagues.
This...kind of sounds like my dream job. And I've never been to a reception like you've described but it sounds much better than the typical funeral.
It sounds like I'm the same age as your coworkers and I've certainly heard of it, but I can also see not hearing about it. It's not like it was as big as the Sopranos.

Welcome!
Thanks! It's an amazing job. It's exciting, every day is different, and I don't work holidays. Win!
