Our hospital provided a kimono style shirt to wear and then swaddled him with their blankets. I guess we could have brought stuff but I didn't even think to. We did a lot of skin to skin so he was mostly in is diaper on my chest covered in a (hospital) blanket.
Our hospital provided all linens. They put babies in the sleeper gowns with the elastic on the bottom. They also provided blankets and hats. We brought a few blankets and hats from home so that DS would use them in the hospital and DH would take them home for the dogs to smell. Not sure if it worked but I read about others doing it. Plus it made it easy to "find" DS when he was in one of our hats. DS was gone for some testing and we had family on their way so we took a walk to the nursery to see how long DS would be. We happened to pass the nurse bringing him back to our room and I saw our hat on the baby and knew he was mine!
Definitely take the hospital tour (you should take it anyway!) and ask this question. But mine provided everything. We brought a going home outfit for the photo op which I almost wish we hadn't done because I look like a hot freaking mess in every one of those photos.
Our hospital required they be in the fugly hospital issued gowns when he was in the nursery. They were way too big (and I had a big baby, so WTF) and not cute.
We kept him in my room all day and dressed him in cuter clothes we'd brought for pictures. We put him back in the fug hospital clothes when we sent him to the nursery at night.
