I'm thinking the cardboard piece was just to display the scarf and give it substance so it can be wrapped (like my tights I just bought, pulled out a cardboard piece).
I think it was a nice gesture, a random act of kindness by a person that didn't consider how a worried mom might react
nothing. I'm not going to call now. After hearing two others insist I should call, I thought I might be neglectful to not call. But apparently by polling others, I am ok to do nothing. Thank god. But I'm still going to give my DD a bath right now.
Since the decision is made to not call, can I wash and keep the scarf? It's beautiful!

This is exactly what I was hoping. I do find it odd though that the random piece of material was thrown in there and the cardboard was wrapped alone, without the scarf.
This totally lightened my mood. LOL!!! Thanks for that cherri. How did they discover what it was? Did they test it?
No, the police station called the number on the Laffy Taffy package and told them they had taffy with what looked like a pill in it, and the company told them that Sprees sometimes get mixed in with Laffy Taffy. Then everyone was all, "oooo...yeah, it does look exactly like a Spree." That was the end it.

I honestly feel bad for your mom for having go through that. I know how it feels now.

the spree/laffy taffy story is awesome...
When we lived in Germany, we had German bus drivers take us to our American school and occassionally they would stop and buy us all a treat...most times we took it home to our mother who let us know if we could have it. Well one time, we got a treat and both my sister and I agreed that we would not wait until we got home. It was called snuff and they told us to snort it up our noses. We got home and told our mom who FREAKED (obviously, she thought we were crackheads now). She called the MP's (military police) and when the came over, our German landlord came up to check on what was wrong. He was able to provide the MP's and my mom that snuff is not cocaine but is some harmless stuff you snort up your nose to make you sneeze

Some crazy lady put a felt bag on her DD shoulder and walked off. Inside the bag was a scarf some other fabric thing and a piece of cardboard wrapped up. She put it in the trash but wants to know if she should call the cops.
da fuq? As pp stated, of course this would happen to her.

Yes, it sure makes you look good to omit the most pertinent fact. The piece of wrapped cardboard had a dust like substance fall out of it. I told a couple of friends and they suggested I call the police in the wild chance it was anthrax or similar.
