Also, slightly related, I was playing with a double needle in my machine. Word to the wise, make sure you take your machine off the zig-zag stitch before attempting to use the double needle. Also, also, I'm thinking I should probably wear some sort of protective lenses while sewing.

I have thought about wearing protective lenses while sewing too. Every time a needle breaks I think, hmm...I should have been wearing our woodworking glasses.
I will be screwed if I ever switch to a machine that remembers what stitch I was on when I shut it down. I'm already really bad about remembering to switch my thread tension back to normal- I can't tell you how many times I've started to sew down a ruffle I just made and been all "WTF are you doing, sewing machine?!" before noticing.
