One of my best friends is going through chemo again for colon cancer. She had it beat, but it came back and found out last week. She starts chemo next Friday. I want to giver her a basket before her last day of work with some goodies in it. I gave her one before and it had two books, some nail polish, snacks for her hubby while she was in the hospital, etc.
Does anyone have any suggestions of things I could put in a basket for her? I was going to do more books, nail polish, cross word puzzles, a GC for her kindle.... but idk what else.

Fun DVDs? My uncle didn't want to do anything that made him think too hard (we let him borrow 24 but it was too "deep" and preferred funny TV shows and movies).
Yes to socks. I did one for my friend, and included lots of fluff magazines, word searches, she loved to read romance novels, so I bought a bunch of those, gum, hard candy, fancy bottled water. I also included a soft pashmina shawl that she could wrap all around her shoulders. I guess when I think of her chemo, she wanted extremely soft and delicate things, because everything hurt.
We chipped in as a group and got her a portable DVD player and a 3-month Netflix subscription (this was before iPads, though).
When I did chemo I always had an extra blanket with me (I hated the blankets they had). Friends gave me some lovely pashminas that I still wear. A Tervis cup with lid/straw. Smells of food/drinks made me sick, so it was helpful to drink from somthing with a lid/straw so I would not smell it.
FUn magazines.
I slept a lot during chemo (depending on how long her sessions are), so my sister got me a nice eye mask.
Lip balm (unscented). You get dehydrated easier, so this helped my lips from getting too chapped.
Snacks - goldfish or teddy grahams. I could not tolerate much more
If she drinks crystal light, maybe a selection of some. I could not drink plain water (it tasted like lead) so had to cover it up with something.
