My daughter also doesn't really look like what you'd think she would, given our features and complexions... She definitely has "black" hair, but sometimes, depending on how it's done, she can look either pretty much white, or latina (especially since we live in a very latino area).
If we're together as a family, people know she's our kid. But, when DH is with her alone, some people don't believe it's his kid (which is funny, because she actually looks a lot like him...) My husband is not mixed... he's definitely a darker shade of black.
I'm sure the fact that I know biases my opinion. But if you told me he was Yemeni or coastal Swahili (like from Zanzibar or Mombasa) or Malagasy I would totally believe you. Because I think he looks like a lot of kids I've seen in those places. And interestingly those are places with a lot of African/Indian/Arab intermarriage historically. So it makes sense.
I could also see north African (especially Egyptian) or Brazilian.
Anyway, he is totally adorable!
DH's father is 100% Ethiopian, so that's pretty close. People are good at this guessing game, I have to say!
