So many of you know I just bought a new house. We closed in November.
My next door neighbor's house is now for sale. She listed it for $44K more than I paid for my house. I am thinking a sale at that price is unlikely, but what do I know.
Also it seems strange that she just put it on the market now. The winter isn't really a busy house buying time in our city.
Is it wrong to go to the open house on Sunday to just be nosey?
In my area a lot of people start house hunting after the first of the year. Maybe that explains the timing? Or maybe they just need to move now, who knows.
I wouldn't go to the open house for fear of being recognized.
Love of my life baby boy born 11/11. One and done not by choice; 3 years of TTC yielded 4 MMC and 2 CPs, through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. Focusing on making the world a better place instead...and running.
I would go. I know it seems like it's an odd time to list a house, but as a prospective buyer, I kind of like that houses are listed during this "off" time since it gives us a better chance and less competition.
I would absolutely go. We were in a new construction neighborhood, and we went to every single open house built after ours. I wanted to see what was up!
I would totally go to the open house. And yay for you if they do sell for that price!
You are totally right about the price. I should be rooting for them!!!
they do have an extra bathroom, though. I just looked at the pictures. Otherwise our house is a mirror image, although I think mine has newer finishes & fixtures.
According to the listing, her house is 2 years older than mine, which actually seems kind of strange.
I just met my neighbor on the other side, who said he was born in his house in 1936. He told me that the circus used to camp in a giant field behind the houses and that sometimes the elephants would get free and roam the streets.
The realtor in me says we totally expect the neighbours to come to the first open house to see whats up
Actually, I once had an open house that was ONLY neighbours. It was kinda funny. The sellers were so excited it was busy until I told them that it was neighbours.
