I'm currently 7w4d, and the morning sickness started about a week ago. I haven't thrown up yet but have had the dry heaves a couple times. I've tried eating constantly, using the pressure points on my wrists, and taking Unisom and B6 (which didn't help much but made me very tired, so isn't an option during the day). I hate ginger so that isn't an option either. What did you do to get rid of MS? Do you think I should ask for a prescription for Zofran?
For me, only time and zofran helped. Although I'm 24 weeks tomorrow and still barfing in the mornings (and occasionally other times), so I also think I have just gotten used to it, to some extent.
I ate dry Cheerios, jolly ranchers, and mint lifesavers. I always took my prenatal at night - the only time I threw up (touch wood) was a morning when I took my prenatal at breakfast. Liquids also really set me off - I barely drank anything if I could avoid it. Sometimes, fizzy water like Perrier or Sprite / diet Pepsi would help.
I didn't get anything from my doctor because I wasn't throwing up, but I was miserable for a few weeks. It's so much better now at 12 weeks - I'd say it was worst in weeks 6-9. There's no shame in asking for meds.
my experience was pretty much like this.
I ate whatever sounded like it wouldn't make me gag. Soft pretzels, chips and cheese, chocolate milk - a lot of crappy carbs. I felt a lot better if I could get something in my stomach.
For me the most relief came when I started brushing my teeth after breakfast rather than before, on an empty stomach. Up until then, I was puking up bile every morning.
I had m/s from 4-12 weeks. No vomiting, just near-constant nausea. Ditto eating what sounds good, when it sounds good. I had PB&J or Kraft mac & cheese almost every night, because it sounded good. I know you said you don't like ginger, but this worked wonders for me. I took it with a tsp of honey.
I did have an rx for Zofran. While it decreased the vomiting, it did nothing about the constant feeling of nausea and it gave me the worst constipation I've ever experienced in my life. Seriously, it was awful. So I decided it wasn't worth it. Hopefully if you take it, you will have a better experience.
For me, the MS peaked at around 10-12 weeks and was gone by 15-16 weeks.
With my first PG I vomited multiple times a day until the day I delivered, starting at 8 weeks. With this PG the vomiting started at 5 weeks and I still do it multiple times a day at 19 weeks with no end in sight.
My doctors won't give me Zofran unless I absolutely can't function at all. I can function, but barely, so no Zofran for me. Plus my doctors say the med causes constipation an headaches.
For me, lots of small snacks and drinks throughout the day help a lot. I pack string cheese and fruits and healthy stuff in my lunchbox to nibble on as I need it. If I get too hungry it makes the sickness worse. At first I thought i wanted carbs but my doctor said proteins would help more and it seems to be true.
Huh, I didn't experience constipation with Zofran. I guess I was only popping one when I felt nauseated and knew it want going to be a good time to puke. Usually before giving a classroom lecture.
For me rest was the most important thing. I tended to get sick at the end of the day when I was tired. My nausea came and went from 6-22 weeks. The worst was when I threw up IN my dad's rand new courtesy vehicle. It had less than 400 miles on it and I puked down the passenger window, door, and into the magazine holder before he could pull over. It was pretty awful!
Thank you, everyone! I picked up some Sour Patch Kids, and bought a set of Sea-Bands, which seems to be helping. It sounds like Zofran wouldn't help me, since I'm not actually throwing up. I actually had a really good day yesterday, and besides about 10 minutes spent over the toilet waiting to vomit (never did) today has been ok too.
It's such a double-edged sword - if I'm not sick I'm worried it's a bad sign, and when I am sick I'm miserable.

I was nauseous for 3 weeks and then puked for 3 weeks, but started feeling better just before 11 weeks. I am still occasionally nauseous but it's mostly gone
Worked for me: Eating small things and often (and only what sounded good) Ginger ale and ginger gum
