Grrrrr. We went to the dr. and I have an upper respiratory infection and Fiona has bronchiolitis. She's been sooooo sick the past few days. She so congested, but nothing will come out of her nose when we suck it. She's been coughing up a storm and has puked up at least part of every bottle for the past 4 days because she's coughing so hard. DH went out of town so I had to beg MIL to come stay with me because I was sick as a dog coughing up blood, Linus is just now recovered aside from a cough, and Fiona was at her worse. For two days it was pretty much a constant cycle of steamy bathrooms, humidifiers, aspiration, and crying. I called the office and they said there was nothing else they could do for a cough so to ride it out. Her wet diapers started decreasing though so I took her in. There's still nothing they could/would give her, but at least I got a diagnosis and know she should be on the upswing now with what it is and how long it's already been here.
It's also really weird having your pedi examine you. They're an adult and pedi office and I don't have a primary anymore so I asked if they could squeeze me in. It was just... weird. At least it wasn't in the Dora exam room. Hopefully with the zpak and prednisone at least I'll be a little more functional. NOOOO MORE SICK PEOPLE IN THIS HOUSE. I told dh we can never have a 3rd because I could not physically handle 5 people being sick at once.
I've said it before and I'll say it again- you just can't catch a break! I am so sorry you and Fiona are feeling crappy but hopefully it will pass soon and your DH can come back and give you a much deserved break.
L has had bronchiolitis twice and now she has a cough so I took her in Wed. They said it wasn't bronchiolitis again so I was relieved. Im sorry Fiona is sick, that cough is really nasty and L would puke with it too. Not sure if Linus ever had it but the cough can last for weeks. It gets better and less frequent just takes some time, at least for L. They have not recommended a nebulizer at this point for her and it sounds like yours didn't either so that's good! Hope everyone in your home feels better soon!
Oh and two os the pedis that we used were family doctors. It was a little weird. The second one did have cartoon drawings on the walls in all the rooms.
Oh, no! Bronchiolitis is the worst. Glad to hear your LO isn't on a nebuelizer. Lyla wheezed so bad when she had bronchiolitis that they put her on one and it was just torture. The longest 10 minutes every 4 hours of my life. Hopefully her cough will become more productive and she'll feel better!
Thanks ladies! Oddly enough my pedi said that she doesn't usually recommend nebulizers because a large majority of time they don't work. That's weird... maybe it was because she thought we were over the worst of it since she'd already had it for a while? Anyway, today was her best day by far! So I'm hoping it's working its way out. She actually smiled today! At least we'll all be healthy for xmas hopefully.
Glad you got a smile, that's a good sign! When I went this last time to the pedi I saw a different doc because I did a walk in appt. he asked if she had a nebulizer and when I said no he said normally they don't recommend it until after 6 months. He said they didn't think it was effective early on due to how infants breathe. No one mentioned that to me before. But I'm glad she hasn't had one. Hoping she stays away from getting it again. She's in DC so I won't hold my breath too long.
