Remember that rash I was asking about several weeks ago? It hasn't gone away and now I have these mysterious welts appearing all over my body. :-| I am headed to the doctor/derm today to discuss. From my google search, it seems I may have picked up Leptospirosis while in Hawaii. It's common in their fresh water/streams and we did a lot of hiking through those. I always have open cuts from running blisters on my feet and had a few from breaking in new shoes on a hike where we were definitely walking through a stream.
Right after that hike is when the rash started and a welt on my back appeared.
No, Chirp - I have been the complete opposite of stressed lately. Since all of this started in Hawaii, it seems like I had to have been exposed to something there - at least that I was allergic to for the rash purposes.
Soo that was basically a bust. The people there were rude. The girl who saw me (a PA) basically said they could cut my skin out and biopsy the welts but saw no rash (even though 15 minutes before my hairdresser saw it). She gave me a script for more cream and sent me out of the office in literally 2 minutes. I was like um no you are not cutting my skin if I can get a less invasive blood test by my GP.
I called my GP back to make an appointment, he's booked but they are going to try to squeeze me in.
I know something is wrong and I hate going to the doctors only to be dismissed and treated like I don't know myself.
Fuss - I don't think you should be worried. Just don't venture into any fresh waters/streams if you have open cuts on yourself. It's really not a good idea to go anywhere near fresh water because of the high amount of leptospirosis in the water.
If it's going to take awhile to get in to the Dr. you might want to consider taking Zyrtec at least until then, to manage the rash/hives. I have had so many random rashes that can't be identified and the Zyrtec has really helped with the skin allergies.
I am hard-core side-eyeing that PA. I hope you can get into your doctor soon. In the meantime, try to make yourself comfortable and stay away from the Google.
