for a 6-month contract position. I haven't heard from the one I want yet.
The company who got me set up with this contract said that if I accept this contract, they want me to pull out of any of other jobs I am being considered for. Um, fuck that. I'm not going to miss out on a permanent position with benefits because I'm working a fucking contract so that a company can save money.
This position does sound interesting, but the contract/no benefits and low pay are irritating.
How could they have the gall to ask that? Good for the contract job but more success in finding a job with benefits and more money. Companies know people are desperate for work. Don't be bullied.
That's pretty common. The placement firm and the new employer want to know the person will be there to fulfill the full contract term. I would not accept the contract role if you think you are going to bail on it for a permanent role.
