Interview Attire Etiquette

If you are interviewing for a position within your same company/ department and the person who will be interviewing sees your attire on a regular basis, is it as important to go with formal interview attire?

I want to wear khaki dress pants, a gold shirt with an orangish blazer.

I usually wear black pants and a nice top and then throw a jacket on right before the interview. Even though it's not my normal attire I want to take the interview serious and I want them to know I am taking it seriously.
