I am making a tanktop for myself. Basically I just traced one tank top I own for the fit. I would like to have ruffles and I have cut out one ruffle with a lettuce edge thus far for the neckline, but I cannot decide if I should:
1) Just keep the one ruffle (what it looks like so far):
2) make tiers of ruffles all the way down; or
3) make one more tier just under the one ruffle, like the one on the right (my shoulder straps are thinner and it would look a little different but this is the basic idea):
I feel stuck because when I pictured it in my head, I saw ruffles all the way down, but is this too much for such a bold print? I have plenty of fabric, so that's not an issue, and I'd probably make an infinity scarf out of the rest of it if I don't make ruffles all the way down. I think a scarf in that print would look cute with my black rain coat.
Great fabric! I think that you could do ruffles the way you pictured it, without it being too much.
I like the idea of the double ruffle (#3), but I think the ruffle that you have needs to be just a little bit rufflier.
ETA: I think it is kind of funny that everyone thinks the pattern is bold...I think the pattern is busy, but not necessarily bold. I think of bold as being larger scale and/or more colors. This season, it seems like excess is the norm...more ruffles, more shirring, clashing colors, etc..

I like the picture on the right. They cut full circle ruffles and tad wider. That why it looks fuller , more ruffly. I think ruffles all the way down the front, might be a tad too much. Like you said its a bold print. Which I love BTW! I can't wait to see it finished.
