...now I have a dilemma. I bought one of these boxes to put in it but forgot to buy a doily.

Should I bother putting a napkin underneath?

Are you bringing it somewhere? Is it on a cardboard round? I wouldn't put a napkin under there as that might stick, but some kind of board to make it easier to remove from the box might be good.

Do you just have some kind of plain, uncolored cardboard around? You could cut that to shape.

What kind of cake is it? How sturdy? If it's a sturdy cake you might not need anything under it.

It's a ciambellone Cheesecake, quite sturdy ... I can manage placing it in the box without a round but it will look imprecise. Ugh. What about a nice piece of cloth underneath? Like a holiday cotton napkin?

Cloth would work. Just not anything that will easily stick and then shed.

I would at least put some parchment paper or wax so it doesn't soak through the box

Thanks ladies, I didn't have parchment paper around and aluminum isn't something we use. The cloth seems to have worked, now I just need to get it back For my next cake today I'll be sure to grab a cardboard round! lol
