Don't know if any of y'all remember but I had a HBP spike at 20 weeks (back in Sept.) and as a result got put on medication for PIHT. I went to the doctor today for my normal appointment (had the GSB test). My BP at the appoint never went below 134/100. They checked my BP 3 times and the bottom number never dropped below 100. I also had protein in my urine. So now I have to head over to the hospital to be monitored for toxemia. I asked my doctor if I could go home and have lunch and he said that was perfectly fine. I also asked him if I needed to pack a bag for the hospital and he said he didn't see the point in doing that. Please tell me this is not first stages of HELLP and that the baby is coming now. Please say something calming.

Oh no! In my limited experience with friends and bedrest roommies, they may just put you on stronger meds and maybe a few hours or even overnight of hospital bedrest to monitor things, but it doesn't necessarily mean you have to deliver now unless your proteins are out of hand. I had several hospital roommies who were only there for a night and then got sent home after doing a 24-hour urine catch.
When my BP started going up at 36w4d, and they sent me to the hospital, they warned me not to eat anything too fatty, salty, or fast food before going there.
I was able to come home last night. All my labs came back normal and my BP readings steadily declined. I believe they got as low as 104/65. My doctor increased my meds from 2x a day to 3x a day now. I am going back to work tomorrow. Luckily I am a teacher and only have until Friday before it is time for the Winter break. Thanks for all your positive thoughts.
