I'm annoyed at the post office. I mailed a package last week that had a long gift in it, and had trouble finding a box (I didn't have one at home, and the post office didn't have one on display either). When I went up to the counter, I asked the guy if he had any other boxes or suggestions on how to mail it. He was great and helpful, found a box that was JUST BARELY too small, and did some great work taping it up to make it work. I paid for it and left.
Today the recipient got it and texted my DH (his family) and mentioned that she had to pay for it when it was delivered. Apparently they didn't charge me enough for shipping (?) and made her pay for it! How tacky is that? And why is it her fault that the post office didn't charge me correctly to begin with? For the record, I paid like $10 for shipping and it wasn't a heavy package or anything so that should have been about right (I think?). I think that's horrible customer service and made things incredibly tacky.
(Of course I also think it's a little tacky she told us about it, but I didn't see the text exchange so I'll give her the benefit of the doubt that she wasn't meaning to make us feel bad).
This is exactly why I ordinarily just ship things directly from the seller when I buy a gift online! Shipping is expensive and always a hassle.
One of my boyfriend's aunts is not a fan of me. I've only met her once and she was strangely rude to me. She told me I wasn't educated/cultured enough because I wasn't familiar with a reference she made to some obscure historical figure (my boyfriend didn't know the name either).
Guess who's the ONLY guest joining us at his parents' for Christmas dinner? :-(
We host DH's immediate family at our house every year because it is the only way that DH's nephew's mother will let nephew come. She is mad at FIL because she thinks he called SRS on her a few years ago. I do all the cooking by choice because DH's brother's house has roaches and FIL's house is also gross. I put a lot of work into cooking, cleaning buying gifts, etc. The only thing I have asked DH to do is let his dad know the date and time. He promised me that he would do it before Thanksgiving but didn't and then we went on a long trip out of the country. He finally contacted FIL two days ago and told him the wrong date! He still hasn't called him back to give him the correct date. Ahhhh!
My in-laws typically don't serve wine until the meal, which is about 4 hours after I start twitching because I need wine so desperately (which is about 2 minutes after I walk into their house).
Does everyone else's forecast for Christmas say "snow"?
I feel like they do that just to be festive on the Weather Channel online, but it pisses me off because we have to travel between states that day and I'd like to know if it's accurate! For some reason I feel like it ALWAYS predicts snow on Christmas.
DH told me last night we need presents for his brother's family because we are going to see them after all.
Guess your DH will be doing some last minute shopping.
I'm dreading Sunday and going to FIL's. His house is nasty, it smells like old man, smoke and coffee. Last wknd DH went over there to help him put up the tree and said he was running the woodstove again, yay more smoke smell.
All of DH's aunts/uncles and cousins will be there. It's going to be so embarassing to have them all over there since he won't clean. I'm not even sure my PG butt will be able to handle being there with all the smell.

I think ours is for real the way they're talking about it. I'm so pissed. Our first snow of the year when I'm supposed to drive 9 hours home. And my city can't clear roads to save it's life
