Do you have certain alcohols that do weird things to you?
Like whenever I drink gin, I get horrible insomnia. It's almost like drinking coffee for me. A friend of mine reliably ends up crying when she drinks gin. In college, if a certain friend drank tequila, we knew she would end up at least partially-naked before the night was over.
Who else has associations like that?
Please note that "gives me a headache" shall not be considered a "weird thing" for the purposes of this thread.
Vodka brings out the funnest version of me (in my opinion at least). Other liquors don't bring out v on 10 quite so easily.
A lot of beers -- particularly wheat beers and other high-quality beers -- make me congested, sneezy and puffy, and make my throat skin itch. I suspect I'm allergic to something in them.

I can drink a 12 pack of beer and be a reasonable and functional human, obviously as long as I don't drive. Give me two margaritas, and I am on the floor or in the bathroom. I don't drink anything, but beer and the occasional glass of wine anymore.
Tequila makes me sparkly & fun. I laugh and laugh and laugh and laugh and laugh.
Vodka makes my head feel light. Like my brain is floating above my body. It doesn't kick in right away, either. I'll go from zero to shitfaced, making it really hard to pace myself (something I'm normally good at doing).
I think tequila makes me most fun. Vodka and wine are just normal drunk me. Bourbon makes me serious.
V - have you been tested for a wheat or yeast allergy?
I have, and it has come back negative. But my allergist thinks there's something going on there that doesn't show up in the tests (that it is a different grain or protein that is setting me off or something).
A nutritionist (I know, I know) once tested me for "sensitivities" and I came back as sensitive for gluten, but I'm not sure how valid that test was.
Vodka is the best. Tequila and Belgian beers make me barfy, probably from past associations. Wine makes me super drunk and makes me wake up in the middle of the night with insomnia.
Beer makes be bloated. Like way beyond normal beer bloat. I had 2 pints at Thanksgiving and looked 7 months pregnant and was in serioius pain. I had a cider last week, and I must have burped 40 times.
If I drink a serious amount of alcohol, I will wake up in the middle of the night, chug a liter of water, and fall right back asleep. I consider it a built in hangover prevention system.
I've learned to be really careful about my state of mind when I drink. If I start drinking in an "ugh, I need to forget about that terrible day/week" place, it's like the switch that tells me when to stop just shuts off and I'll drink myself sick. I have no problem cutting myself off when I'm drinking in a happy place. So no bad day drinking for me.

This is why I'm giving it up for a while. I seem to have lost my ability to do it in moderation. I don't think that I'll never be able to drink again, but for now, I need a break. Saturday was a wake-up call regarding my unhealthy behaviors.
Sucks, though, because I'm going to be paying for a bottomless brunch in January and probably won't have a single fucking mimosa!
I used to drink tequila pretty exclusively, and I feel like it made all inhibitions drop pretty quick (oh the things I did...) but I always always puke when I drink it. Doesn't matter if it's one shot, or 4, or a margarita...I always end up hugging the porcelain.
The only time I don't want to drink is if I'm in a bad mood. I guess that's good? I also HATE being more than tipsy, so it's like an art hovering at the not quite drunk line. The only time I get sick anymore is when H makes some beer than seems light and really isn't. Those have me sober to puking in a drink and a half.

I usually limit myself to one drink (child of alcoholics) but even when I've had more to drink, I rarely get drunk or even tipsy -- except for sake. Sake makes me BUZZ!

If I drink til I'm tipsy I have a hard time sleeping. When I'm really drunk I'm awake for HOURS!!! It's so annoying!! I rarely drink til the point of vomiting. I got plastered at my bachelorette party and puked all over the place. It was not pretty. :/
I really only drink wine at home, fruity foo-foo girly drinks and sweet drinks when I'm out. I hate beer although I wish I liked it since it's so much cheaper than the foo-foo stuff.
Tequila is the only booze I've found to get me really drunk and silly. I can drink vodka all night and still not get much beyond buzzed. And it wears off quickly.
Wine makes me talk. A lot. About inappropriate things. I'm great fun at fancy dinner parties if I don't have to drive.
I have a drink every night regardless, which includes bad days as well as good. I don't really differentiate but I do sometimes have a second drink on a bad day. I guess that's not great, but I never have more than 2 so I consider it well under control. I also don't have any issues giving it up while PG, though with both pregnancies I went on nonalcoholic shopping sprees the day of my BFP because I want a non-water replacement for my nightly drink.
Can't think of anything that does weird things to me in particular. The main thing for me is to never have more than 2... even 3 will totally eff up my sleep and give me a hangover.
