On my way to work, I came up behind a fairly slow moving car. Speed limit was 55mph, I feel like they were going just under.
I went to pass, and realized the car approaching was a hair closer than I thought, so I punched it to get around. I slowed up as soon as I got back into my lane.
Turns out, the approaching car was a cop He wasn't having any of my explanation, and didn't care that I have a spotless driving record.
I'm now $176 poorer, and hoping one speeding ticket doesn't hurt my insurance rates. Boo!
That stinks. Remember limit means max, not required speed.
Thanks, Mom
ETA: That was always my mom's line to me in high school. My dad's was, "The only people who should speed are people who can afford the tickets. And that's not you."
I was waiting for you to do what most posters who post about tickets do...blame the cop and ask us how to get out of paying. lol
But, yeah, that sucks.
Nah, I'm accountable for my actions. It just sucks - I feel like it was kind of a low blow to ticket me for passing someone I mean honestly, who wants to be stuck behind someone going under the speed limit?
