Several Ks. Not really for any reason except in case of a last minute I need cash now and it's Saturday emergency. We forget that it's even there.
What kind of emergency requires thousands of dollars in cash? (real question, not snark)
I don't know haha. It's one of those "why do people do the shit they do" kinda thing. I guess part of it is security, part laziness, part it's there and easy access. We've got it hidden well enough that it's not going to get stolen unless the thief looked in every single crack and hole in my house.
None. I probably have around $10 or so in my wallet right now, which is rather unusual. We'd be screwed in an emergency where you couldn't use cash, but I don't foresee that happening here.

It depends upon how much tutoring I've done lately. I probably have about $150 on the average day. I can't remember the last time I went to the ATM and got cash out. The tutoring money keeps me afloat when I need cash (rarely) and I usually end up depositing a couple of hundred every few months.
We keep $2000.00 in cash as a liquid emergency fund. It is kept in a safe. Unfortunately (or I guess fortunately) the only two times we have used it was to loan it to DH's brother and then a few years later DH dad in an emergency type situation (the power was getting shut off that day, etc.) We also usually have about $100 in cash per person.
