Anyone have "per mile" car insurance? An ad just popped up in my gmail for this, and when I put in our info, it is quoting me $32/month for two cars + 2 cents per mile. That's pretty attractive. AND they track your mileage with a little device in each car and you max out at 150 miles/day. We drive less than 6000 miles per year total (and yes, I have the records to prove it), and a lot of that is road trips to visit family in another state...
I've never even HEARD of this before, but long wished for it. It's a bummer to be paying $100/month for car insurance when we drive so little. I haven't even bought gas in almost 2 months (okay, part of that is because 1 car is electric, but still).
It has been around since 2007 or 2008. I distinctly remember b/c I was about to move overseas but needed to keep my car insured. I ended up not doing that option but I remember it from then. I can't even remember what I actually did lol.

Huh I have never heard of that but I am wicked suspicious of those devices.
We also pay over $100/month for auto insurance which makes me crazy because we a)only have one car, b) both have perfect driving records and c) drive less than 7500 miles/year.

I'm sure they data mine the device data... but I'm not sure I actually care. It might be a deal breaker for DH though. He cares more about privacy than I do.

Call your current car insurance company and tell them you don't drive your vehicles many miles a year. They have different rate classes and should be able to get your rate lower if you are being rated too high.
