Now I'm getting a foley bulb, then pitocin

Damn it! I wasn't looking for a natural birth but I really didn't want all of this! Anyone have a foley and not a c/s?

Not that I don't want it, just never heard of it before so it's freaking me out a bit.

Oh I wouldn't worry. It's just a catheter that they use to stretch out the cervix instead of in your urethra. I would muuuuch rather start with a foley before cervidil.

Did they say cytotec? I would avoid that at all costs.

Usually they'll start with something to soften the cervix (cervidil or cytotec) but a foley bulb will mechanically open the cervix which can help the effectiveness of pitocin. It's a rubber tube with a bulb on the end that they'll inflate with saline.

I had a foley, and I'm not kidding when I say the insertion was the most painful part of my labor, delivery and recovery. Ugh.

Just the bulb then pitocin since I'm past my due date. They haven't done the bulb yet, been in the room for almost 2 hours and I'm only hooked up to the monitors. Slow moving here today!

I had a foley dilation. I started getting induced at 38 weeks on a Sunday. I had made no progress but DS was failing NSTs and BPPs. I think the foley was Tuesday? My water was broken Wednesday morning. I had DS vaginally Wednesday night.

The hour it was in was not pleasant. But it worked, getting me from 1 cm to 3-4. I had never heard of it but the midwife suggested it and I was willing to try anything to avoid a c-section.

I had a foley bulb and vaginal delivery. I didn't find it very painful, and it was effective!

Well, the foley didn't work. They tried to get it in 4 times. So I've had cervidil in for almost 3 hours and I'm contracting some. Trying to sleep now but it's a busy night here.

I asked to be induced. They won't let me go past 41 weeks and I've been 1cm for 3 weeks now with no change. So unless I progressed by Saturday, I'd be in this same spot.
