-My employer covers my health insurance, dental and vision and I pay $300 a month pre tax for my son. -They match up to 5% in our 403 B -We have a computer purchase program that allows us to take a 0@ loan up to $2000. They give us 20% off our purchase and deduct from our paycheck over 10 months. ETA: small life insurance policy ETA2: My MBA tuition/books/etc. was 100% paid for. At a $$$ school. ETA3: Free iPhone and plan
DH has really good ones thankfully. If I go back to work F/T there is no way in hell I'm staying at this firm. I really don't get why my 2 coworkers stay here (one is the sole income in his family & the other has only ever worked there)...the job market has loosened up & I sure wouldn't stay if I was them. But I guess job switching can be scary.
-3% safe harbor contribution to 401(k), meaning I don't have to contribute at all to receive this -discretionary profit-sharing contribution to 401(k), has been about 1.5% of my salary the past few years -5 weeks PTO (I've been here 5 years) -fully paid health insurance for me and H (and kids if we ever have them) -$2,500 contribution to HSA -paid cell phone and iPad, both including data -long and short term disability -very cheap life insurance for me and H -paid parking -coffee, tea, water and various snacks -paid bar association fees, CLE, attorney and notary registrations
I don't know all of the benefits of DH's new job yet but I will tell you what I know.
3 weeks PTO (I believe) to start 100% employer paid medical Subsidized dental/vision. Our portion is $34/paycheck for a family of 5 50% match on all 401k contributions Short & long term disability life-insurance Tuition and/or continuing ed reimbursement Cell phone. I don't know if they will reimburse us or just give him one. FSA/HSA 15% productivity bonus And, the top of the list...discount at the hospital cafeteria. Woot Woot! Lots of cheap jello for DH. : )
ETA: I am not sure what it means but they have something called "Thank you events". They also have retiree medical which will be awesome if DH stays there for the next 30+ years.
25 days vacation Unlimited sick time Work from home -- very large home office initial set up and ongoing month support $3k professional development annually Car, gas, insurance (including unlimited personal mileage for a $100 month fee) 6% 401k match I travel for work (approximately 6 overnights per month) exclusively with 1 airline, hotel chain, and rental car company so pretty much all all vacation spending is covered with points we earn ETA: cell phone, laptop, iPad and data, home phone and Internet; somewhat decent insurance copays and stuff but not as good as big pharma.
My boss will also let us expense any technology, home office, or travel related item we need -- iPads, work bags, luggage, home office organization / storage, etc are all expenses without question.
I have zero compliants about benefits other than lack of paid maternity leave, although given others have worked out paid leaves of 6-8 weeks for surgeries and it took 2 years to fill our last open position I'm sure we will work something out.

I have pretty good benefits. -employer pays 100% of my health insurance premium and puts $1500 into an HRSA for us (which si the amount of my deductible) -7% 403(b) match -generous time off including 6 weeks of vacation plus every holiday even remotely possible (ie, veterans day, VJ day, etc) AND fridays off in the summer -free soup on tuesdays at lunch -free coffee daily from our cafe -LTD insurance -Accidental death/dismemberment insurance -Life insurance -dental and vision at a pretty low cost. I think I pay less than $20/month for both combined.
My work's (a small private school) benefits aren't so great. I get: -6 days sick/vacation PTO per year -lots and lots of holidays, including over 2 weeks off for Christmas, 1 week off for spring break, and 2 months off for summer -not that great health insurance (which I decline--I use H's instead) -dental and vision -401k with 2% matching but only after I've been there 2 years (I'm on my second year now). -a little life insurance -if I had kids, they could go to my (very expensive) private school for free. -usually a free lunch once a month from the parents -LTD insurance
My H has a better gig: -some holidays (he usually works on them by choice though) as much time off for summer as he needs (he's a workaholic and works all the time except when we go on vacation for 3 weeks or so during the summer). -really good health insurance for both of us, with negligible cost passed on to us -state pension plan with up to 12% match, depending vesting -a little life insurance -LTD insurance
I work in social services, so I get pretty shitty pay, but decent benefits:
- State Pension - Great health insurance, paid 90% for me and 75% for spouse/dependents - 100% covered vision and dental for me, spouse, dependents - LTD - Life insurance (3x salary) - 15 holidays, 2 floating holidays - 12 sick days/year - 20 vacation days/year - Telecommute/AWS schedules
OK health insurance. We pay about $8/wk OK dental and decent vision... about $3/wk for both State retirement plan 401k match 2x salary life insurance Accidental death/dismemberment LTD STD Take home vehicle Paid iPhone, wireless VZW mifi, laptop 2 weeks vacation, 3 weeks sick

-medical insurance premiums paid for for me, dh works for same employer and he gets free medical insurance for himself and our son - 8.5% of my base salary paid to retirement 401K - about $6K per year to an expense account for work related purchases - dinners paid for by department when on overnight call - about 3 weeks PTO, if we use all of it, our chairman gives us another 5 days to encourage people not stockpiling PTO days. if you are on call on a hospital holiday, you "earn" an extra PTO day - 8 work days PTO for going to meetings in my field - $100/month cell phone reimbursement, $200 towards a new phone every 2 years

15 vacation days 5 sick days Profit sharing Employer pays 75% of health/dental premiums Flexible schedule 1 afternoon off each week during the summer (12 weeks)
I'm a contractor in a way that is possibly not legal. Anyway that means I'm self employed and have no benefits. I get to order really nice office supplies though and I have a laptop that I keep at home.
- I get nothing because I am self employed at one job and hourly at the other.
- DH works for big 4 engineering 4% match on 401K Option for the Hyatt legal plan (we pay, but good discounts) Co paid life insurance Decent health insurance
4.5% 401k match (with 6% contribution) 22 days vacation Allowance to take 5-10 sick days (but that's a weird situation) $30/month gym reimbursement $800 computer reimbursement every 3 years LTD and STD Life Insurance (2x salary) Health (I think they pay about 90%) Dental Eye
401k matching FSA/HSA Pretty good amount of vacation/holidays Cheap, yet really good, benefits LTD and STD Will pay for you to attend conferences (went to San Diego for free earlier this year)
-pay for my certifications -401k with 6% match -I pay 250 for DH and I for medical/eye/dental -paid cell phone for business use only -paid business line for home use -20 days of PTO, 8 holidays, 0 Sick days -flexible hours -life insurance -STD -tuition reimbursement
I didn't post my budget (but have done so in the past).
I get great health insurance - we pay around $80 a check and almost anything is covered. ER visits, mental health visits, and anything pregnancy related are paid at 100%. I think we have a 20% copay for everything else and a $200 deductible per year, $600 OOP max.
My company puts 6% into retirement regardless of what I put in, and matches an additional 3% so I'm saving 12% with only a small personal contribution.
We have 15 vacation days, 10 sick days, and another 10 days of misc time off including personal days, volunteer days, etc.
Lots of training opportunities, and sent to 1 professional conference per year at no cost to me.
Up to $120 a year reimbursement for gym membership or fitness equipment.
Standard stuff like life insurance, eye insurance, dental (nothing too special with those).
Lots of flexibility, smaller perks like Wellness activities.
No paid maternity leave, but I think you can take STD though I'm not sure what that entails. LTD is also available but I haven't looked into it.
- 12 days sick/12 days personal (up to 18 after one year); sometimes admin days at my boss's discretion - 2 weeks pd maternity leave (10 more unpaid) - subsidized health, dental, and vision (I pay 150 or so oop/month for all 3 for just me) - 5% TSP match - Pension - *Some* flexibility (no one's watching the clock if I come in 15 mins late; but less than at the firm where no one cared if I came into the office at all as long as I billed) - FREE parking (this is huge for me) - FSA
My benefits are good, but nothing to write home about. I often wonder why people rave about fed benefits. I also don't have civil service protection, the biggest benefit (in my opinion) of most fed jobs. That said, I love my job. That's a pretty big benefit.
I'm curious which agency you're at b/c some of your benefits seem different than mine. The biggest ones are the vacation and sick time.
That said, I'm a fed and my DH is a contractor. My benefits greatly outweigh his for the costs especially for health ins. They're deductibles are ridiculous.
- 25 days off (that is both sick and vacation -- we don't differentiate). I don't think I'd ever take more than 10 - Safe harbor contribution to my 401(k) - Because I opt out of health insurance (we get it through my husband's work), I get $70 a paycheck for it - Bar license fees paid for two states, and 2 bar association memberships paid - Life & AD&D insurance (though it is skimpy -- I think it is "100% of salary up to $100,000" which means that no-one actually gets 100% of salary) - A Blackberry (though I only use it for overseas travel) - If I stay after 8 or so, the firm will pay for my dinner - If I stay after 10 or so, the firm will pay for car service home
-24 vacation days, 3 personal, 12 sick -I pay about $130/month for health, vision, dental, they pay the rest. Just for me. I could add a family for a reasonable price, but the federal government doesn't recognize my family so it would cost me a fortune in taxes. -1x salary life insurance -Uh, we have a water cooler. And I could contribute to a 403b if I felt inspired.
We apparently get sick/vacation days. I think 20 days total? I dunno; if I'm sick, chances are I'm working from home. 401K, but no matching Free coffee and soda They pay for my bar membership, organization dues, CLEs, etc. Fairly regular marketing lunches/dinners
-Great 401k plan: company matches 150% + profit sharing, typiclaly ends up being an additiona 3.5% of my salary. -Company paid LTD and STD policies -iPhone -Car + gas allowance -Daily lunch -35 PTO days
My husband received fully paid family medical and dental coverage and other perks that make up an lowish salary for working at a non-profit.
401k - They contribute 7.5% (fully vested... though 3% of that is contributed at year's end, so you need to work the full year in order to qualify) health benefits - I pay about $250/month for the whole family Cheap home cable and internet 20 vacation days, 11 sick days, 5 personal business days, 2 floating vacation days Life insurance that's 1.5x my salary 8 weeks paid maternity leave Free coffee, coke, and water Employee stock purchase plan at a discount
For DH's co: 3% match on 401k Kind of crappy health care and we pay $200 every two weeks 2 years salary for AD&D $75/mo towards cell Occasional lunches and dinners out 3 weeks vacation
