I'm editing my title because no one answered me last night. :-(
I know there was a post about this but I didn't read it and it's not coming up in searches but what is the consensus for tipping your hair stylist right before xmas?
I usually tip pretty generously because he always mentions that he usually charges x but is only charging me y. But it's already pretty expensive (I'm getting full head tomorrow and I usually only get highlights) so if my normal tip is 20 percent, is bumping it up to 30 percent okay?
idk, I'm a little stingy on tips when it comes to hairdressers and dont go over 20%. My bill is usually close to $100, so a $20 tip on top of what the stylist is making I think is pretty good. I think my opinion is a little skewed because my hair stylist is also the owner of the shop so I am assuming she is already making more than the other girls.
I think that the consensus on the other post was that if you have a long-standing relationship with the person, bump it up. If you are having a cut with someone for the 1st or 2nd time, and you just happen to have an appt. in December, no need to up the tip just because it is close to Christmas

I see him pretty frequently. Maybe every two months for the past two years? I just wish I would know the price in advance. He always seems to make it up on the spot. I don't think he's ripping me off or anything but I feel dumb trying to figure out the tip right in front of him. One time I had to get out my calculator on my phone.
