Last year I had someone at work give me a gift for Christmas unexpectedly. I had an extra gift prepared for such an occasion so I gave it to her.
Well, I guess she forgot who gave it to her because I found a gift in my office today from her and it's what I gave her last year. Still in my gift bag. Guess she didn't like it. lol.
I don't know what to say when I see her. I'm afraid whatever I say will trigger her memory that I gave it to her originally, and that will be awkward.
my grandma regifted me a little Christmas decoration that I gave her last year. she's pushing 70 and showing signs of dementia though, so I cut her a little slack.
oh I cringe for her, but I really doubt that she will remember. Just say, "thanks for thinking of me" and don't go into how you love each item and the gift bag that she picked out.
Once, H's aunt regifted me with an item I had put in a gift bag for her a year or 2 prior. I was like, oh this is really cute....wait a minute!
A few years ago I gave SIL, who had just moved into a new house, a Linens n Things gift card for Christmas. The next year I got a Linens n Things gift card from MIL - but they had gone bankrupt in the meantime. I am 99% certain that it was the one I had given the year before.
My Mom once gifted me a DVD player I had purchased for my college dorm. I forgot to take it with me and when I came home for Spring Break my mom had wrapped it up for my birthday. I totally called her out on it being that she is my mom and all.
As it was a candle, this isn't as "shocking" as initially thought. Candles are kind of generic and I can see not remembering who exactly gave it to you.
But the fact it was in the same bag is quite amusing. And I do think you should give it back to her next year. That would by funny.
If I were giving a regift I'd be absolutely certain I remembered who it was from before giving it out to someone I exchanged with last year!
I thanked her, and she was all "I hope you like this scent!" and went on to talk about it. lol. It was funny. I really wanted to say "You know I gave this to you last year, right? This is my bow."
