I had my first appointment this morning and H and I got to hear the heartbeat!
My doctor doesn't do an ultrasound until the A/S at 20 weeks, so we just used the doppler device. She warned that 10 weeks might be a bit too early, but not to panic if we didn't hear anything.
It took quite a while to find it (and three squirts of cold jelly!), but just when we were about to give up we heard a fast beat for a few seconds. And then the battery died on the doppler!
But we heard it nonetheless. We'll be telling our family on Christmas Eve and I'm so excited to finally have people know!
We couldn't hear the HB at my 10 week (turns out I have an anterior placenta) so the Dr. wheeled in the portable U/S machine so that we could get a look and sure enough we could see her moving and her heart beating away. What an amazing feeling to first actually hear that there is a baby in there. How exciting! Have fun telling your families at Christmas!!
