Hi! I've lurked and posted a tiny bit on D&R. Just a little about me, I'm in my mid twenties, live in Alabama, and I work for a non profit. My husband is a CPA and we hare huge University of Alabama fans, we both graduated from UA.
I just got my BFP yesterday at 12dpo! I haven't even missed my period yet and I know anything can happen at this point but my fingers and toes are crossed. My husband and I weren't planning on TTC until this summer but here I am.
I called my ob yesterday to schedule an appointment. The nurse said that he likes to see people at about 8 weeks to do an US and to try to hear the heartbeat, but then she scheduled my appointment for Jan 15 when I will be right at 7 weeks. Should I call back and push it back a week? I'm afraid that they won't be able to hear anything and it will freak me out.
It is up to you. My dr says even 8 weeks can be tough to hear the heartbeat. So! There is that. But if you want it to be more likely, then yes, change your appointment.
And congratulations! Post away, we are generally kind but do make fun of the bump a lot.
I'd personally push it out. I thought I was 8 weeks when I went to my "first" appt and I was actually 6 weeks. There was really not much to see or talk about at that point (although we did hear the heartbeat at that time, but I know that's unusual). I would push it up to 8 weeks and that way you have a better chance of hearing the heartbeat and not freaking yourself unnecessarily until later appointments that you didn't hear the heartbeat because there WAS no heartbeat, you know?
Thanks ladies! I am so excited but I don't think it has sunk in yet. I think I will push it back a week.
I have no problem with making fun of the bump, that place freaks me out. I am still really active in my wedding month board from the knot, we actually moved to a private proboard site before the next exodus because we were having so many problems. Haha.
